      NAUSEA  OFTEN  CAME  TO  MAGGIE,  but  this  bout  was  different.  Untouchable               that  was  what  Clay  Clayton  looked  like  as  he  emerged  from  the  court  room,  grin  bright  as  if  he  had  won  the  lottery  and  not  slipped  through  prison  bars.  It  was  the  same  smile  he  wore  as  he  offered  her  comfort  and  assistance,  when  he  showered  her  in  sympathy  as  Maggie  worried  herself  sick  wondering  if  her  best  friend  was  alive.  Little  did  she  know,  she  was  always  right  under  the  floorboards. If  she  had  been  looking  instead  of  offering  her  captor  lemon  cookies,  Odette  would  have  been  freed  sooner.

      Deception,  it’s  not  nearly  as  sickening  as  the  actions  he  took  against  Odette,  but  it  doesn’t  feel  any  better  either.  It  was  almost  me,  plagues  her  mind  constantly,  if  Finn  hadn’t  been  there  .  .  .

“  yeah!  i  shot  the  bitch  in  the  head,  red,  she  should  be  dead!  ”  yet  the  bitch  was  very  much  alive,  or  un-alive  or  whatever  the  fuck  you  called  it.  flipping  her  blade  over  crimson  stained  fingers,  the  undead  girl  stalks  toward  them,  octaves  weaving  a  haunting  tune  in  the  freezing  night  air.  aiming  for  the  freak’s  head  once  more,  liv  pulls  at  the  trigger  and

𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲   𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩   𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫   𝐢𝐬   𝐚   𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡   𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡.      though   he   tried   to   help   with   her   bags,   the   man   in   the   suit   with   the   dark   sunglasses   took   over   without   saying   a   word   to   him.   this   was   their   dream.   off   to   auradon   she   would   go,   surrounded   by   bountiful   fruit   that   grew   on   trees,   flower   filled   meadows,   more   books   than   she   could   read   in   a   lifetime.   not   only   was   it   what   her   mother   wanted   for   her,   but   finn   could   tell   odette   wanted   it   too.

it   was   selfish   for   his   heart   to   ache   at   the   thought   of   her   going.   for   weeks   he   had   tried   to   mentally   prepare   himself   for   the   goodbye,   to   build   a   fortress   to   hold   back   any   emotions.   hands   shove   into   his   pockets,   his   spine   curved   over   as   his   head   hangs   low.   a   foot   idly   kicks   at   loose   pebbles,   a   minuscule   rock   bouncing   off   the   shiny   limo   wheel.   he   looks   up   at   her,   no   longer   himself   but   an   eccedentesiast.   there   was   no   way   he   would   ruin   her   big   day   for   her,   even   though   he   wasn’t   sure   how   he   could   make   it   home   without   her.   

on   the   brink,   he   feels   it   too.   her   hesitation.   there’s   something   lonesome   in   her   eyes   as   she   peers   over   the   water.   “   hey,   ”   he   says   softly,   nudging   her   with   his   shoulder.   “   you’re   gonna   be   okay.   it’s   what   you   always   wanted,   isn’t   it?   big   garden   with   no   responsibilities.   brunch   at   a   fancy   cafe.   piles   and   piles   of   books,   more   than   you   can   ever   read.   but   hey,   now   that   you   won’t   have   to   work   at   your   mom’s   shop   you’ll   have   all   the   time   in   the   world.   ”

      he thumbs over the pendant around his neck, it’s one he’d picked out himself, one he thought was cool, one he liked. the thought of tossing it aside seems a little...well, not fair. but, there’s nothing to say he can’t immediately buy it back, is there? so he hits accept and works the leather strap from around his neck and heads towards the pawn shop with the trinket clutched in his hand. 

      once inside, he squeezes himself between shelves, trying not to knock anything, or damage anything. he seems a little bigger than the intended patrons, but that’s to be expected. not everyone on the isle is as large as he is. he approaches the counter with a warm smile and sets down the pendant. “ i know this- probably isn’t worth much, but, uh, it’s what i’m here to sell. ” he doesn’t know what happens if she won’t buy it. does he fail? someone else surely will. somewhere. he flashes her an even brighter smile, none-the-less.

a lil valentine’s day ting for @odeitte​

𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘,  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐃𝐀𝐘  𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃  𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓  𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇  𝐓𝐖𝐎  𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒  𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄  𝐈𝐓’𝐒  𝐀  𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘.  one  for  the  first  day  of  the  week,  another  for  good  luck.  but  since  it’s  a  special  day  (  one  he’s  just  recently  learned  about  too.  a  day  just  for  love?  they’d  celebrate  anything  in  auradon,  not  that  he  was  upset  about  it  )  she  gets  five  more.  under  the  ruse  of  getting  ready  for  his  day  as  usual,  he  slips  out  of  bed  and  disappears  into  the  kitchen.  breakfast  in  bed  was  an  appropriate  thing  to  do,  right?  somehow,  maybe  by  a  valentine’s  day  miracle  (  and  the  help  of  a  cooking  show  that  he  kept  rewinding  for  reference  )  he  manages  to  pull  off  a  decent  looking  breakfast.  (  no  eggshells  in  it  was  always  a  win  ).  

the  last  thing  he  wants  to  do  is  spill  piping  hot  tea  on  her,  so  he  moves  quietly  and  slowly  into  their  room,  holding  the  tray  with  both  hands.  bucky,  stealth  not  being  his  strong  suit,  had  other  plans.  the  pup  darts  into  the  room,  weaving  between  finn’s  legs  before  jumping  on  top  of  odette,  tongue  running  across  her  face.  “  buck,  no,  we  talked  about  this.  ”  finn  says  in  a  hushed  whisper,  but  it’s  already  too  late.
