🦈✨👉🏼Repost from @paulnicklen • Like all sharks, hammerheads have the ability to detect electrical fields generated by other living creatures thanks to electroreceptive pores in their skin. Scientists believe the unique shape of their heads evolved to allow for more effective use of this special sense as they sweep for prey, like a treasure hunter with a metal detector on some sandy tropical beach. Another bonus is an incredible field of vision, thanks to the positioning of their eyes. But there are flaws in every design, and smaller fish species exploit their blind spot for refuge from predators and a free meal whenever the shark feeds. #OceanSchool #Shark #Hammerhead #HammerheadShark #Bahamas #TheBahamas #Evolution #ElectricalField #Vision #BlindSpot #FreeMeal https://www.instagram.com/p/CQrFzi6Fsci/?utm_medium=tumblr
