Megamart Mysteries || Nanu & Yokai
Nanu had known the abandoned Thrifty Megamart well. Even aside from having visited it many times as it was Acerola’s trial site of choice, he was familiar with the location. He could remember, however briefly, before Tapu Bulu had destroyed it in a rage. It was around the same time that it had destroyed the former Kahuna and the original Team Skull, the memory still burned in his mind. It was a damn fitting spot for a Ghost type themed trial to be held, considering how many of the things wandered aimlessly within it now.
Very few stepped foot in the store unless they needed to complete their trial. It had an ambiance that intimidated, that suggested those who came near turn back as soon as they could. Some kids would go in on a dare to prove their bravery and courage, but the Ghost Pokemon inside were mischievous. Nanu would be called down to help extract the terrified children if Acerola, for some reason, could not. Then there were the select few that were fascinated by the abandoned site. People like Acerola, who never shied away from Ghost types or their realms.
Nanu had come down to the Tapu Village for groceries. There was no viable shop nearby Po Town for obvious reasons, and thus the village was subject to weekly shopping trips. The day was a particularly grey one, something beautiful in its own sense, especially when viewed from the beach. He rested on the beach to eat lunch before returning home. It was always quiet around there, a benefit of the fearful legends surrounding the Megamart. He could see footprints in the sand leading towards the store that day, however.
It piqued his interest, admittedly. He wasn’t sure if it was Acerola or someone else, but he figured he should check it out. Knowing his luck, it was probably another foolish kid who was dared to enter by their equally foolish little friends. Nanu stood up, stretching, before setting out towards the abandoned Thrifty Megamart. The Murkrow that often frequented the outside of the store looked undisturbed as usual as they stared at Nanu with beady eyes. He stepped inside and took a look around the store from where he stood. Nothing yet.
Nanu wandered through the store quietly, his footsteps light to keep the Ghosts from drawing near. He wasn’t interested in any wild encounters today. As he rounded a corner, he was faced with a young man. He didn’t look bothered by the place at all. Nanu figured he might be one of the rare few that weren’t too bothered by the place. That, or he was really good at pretending that he wasn’t afraid.
“Sorry,” Nanu said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “Didn’t see you. What are you doing, wanderin’ around in here?”
