Been working with this Occulomata OC for a while, they're sort of a conversion from a fan character I made as a joke into a more serious sort of idea that I talked about on another blog.
Also this was a way of exploring how Occulomata can differ in appearance aside from what Ahye looks like.

Been messing with this space alien machine again since he's been taking over my thoughts as of late. These are just some ideas regarding how he might change shape when in flight, since I see him changing his form a little bit when flying. This time I went back to using an older brush I used to use for inking to mess with some ideas for shading techniques this time around.
I couldn't really decide whether or not he keeps his usual eyes or if they fuse together into a sort of compound wasp/dragonfly eye type look for greater visibility. At first with the face I was thinking about going for something more along the lines of a fighter jet, but reconsidered into leaning more towards something that looks like a medieval dragon look since I want to stay away from Occulomata looking man-made and keep to a more organic/natural appearance.
I'm still not completely happy with the plating for this "mode", so I'll probably keep messing with it.
Ahye has been on the brain lately, still ironing out their design and palette. Though I think I'm much closer to where I want them to be this time around.
Also I figured out what exactly to call their situation surrounding the whole eldritch machine from deep space thing. Occulomata seems to be a good word that encompasses them (and other characters that I've converted into these things) for now.
Been drawing Occulomata KARR some more, I feel like I've finally gotten down his design to where I want it, Mainly the heft/weight of him felt off in the previous iterations and I wanted to mess wit the face a little to make it seem more like a mix of chimeric alien beast with a few unsettling human elements for that "monstrously beautiful" sort of vibe.
Plus there's a few ideas about how his form shifts when he's adapting himself for flight. I haven't gotten that down how I want it to look, but I'll probably pin it down with some more drafting and brainstorming. The idea right now is trying to go for something alien looking yet heavily armored, a biological entity that looks capable of hypersonic flight without sacrificing any of the imposing size and weight. In other words, trying to lean into the intimidating dragon parallel from deep space.
Or I could just let KARR sprout wings and explain the rest away with magical electromagnetic field shenanigans. Occulomata are from deep space I don't gotta explain shit.

Been chipping away at this in the margins between other projects and work. It's some more stuff exploring Occulomata KARR since I'm not fully satisfied with his design and wanted to try and pinpoint what I wanted to fix.

Alternatively just a general theme for whatever occulomata!KARR has going on with Garthe.
I've been plunking away at Occulomata KARR's design outside of work, been wanting to figure out his teeth/mouth and a few things with the hands to get those how I want them. I'll probably mess with a few more ideas before I'm happy.
