Initially he was raised in Gadgetzan but I'm thinking of letting him grow up in Sandsorrow Watch

Stil orphan, he just remembers being alone one day on the desert by Zul'Farrak. He still has no memory of his family or where he came from, but he knew he had no one to turn to, so he raised himself basically.

AND NOW THE BOY and I'm off to complete some quests!

Chilli is my sand troll shaman. He wants to be a shadow hunter but as of now he's stuck in the shadow part.

He was found and raised by goblins and doesn't have a lot of contact with his tribe. They let him in their settlements and outposts but he's not allowed inside Zul'Farrak

His teacher is an exiled witch doctor named Mina. Currently the two of them are in Zandalar studying blood magic.

Chilli was raised by an entire group of goblins in Gadgetzan, and they took him out to trips in the desert often (the group was a mixed bag of engineers, alchemists, hunters and others). He always knew he was a troll and he always paid close attention to the sand trolls his group ran into occasionally.

He wanted to learn more about them and their culture (his culture?). Lucky for him he lived in Gadgetzan, the same Gadgetzan a certain Zul'Amina lived in.

Mina left Zul'Farrak on her own accord and friendly terms, and she ran a little underground market in goblin town for rare items, reagents and things of the like, as well as various services. Mina is an extremely skilled witch doctor and people from all over came over to see her for something or other.

Chilli went after her initially because he was looking for work. He is an endearing idiot and a bit of a blabbermouth, so Mina warmed up to him fast. She started teaching him about troll (sand troll) culture and customs and after a couple of years working together she promoted him to her personal assistant and body guard. During that time she found out he had a natural affinity for shamanism, so she got one of her contacts in Zul'Farrak to teach him (note she's the only reason the sand trolls tolerate Chilli, in their eyes he's not one of them but since he works for the very powerful and very scary witch doctor they leave him alone). He's a fast learner and graduated to full fledged shaman in no time.

As for the shadow hunter part - he learned about it from Mina, much like everything else. He got hooked on the idea because to him it feels like a way to connect better with a culture he doesn't fully understand, so he asked Mina if she knew anyone who could teach him. Lucky for him Mina herself knows all about shadow hunter rites and training, but he only got her to teach him recently, because becoming a shadow hunter is Hard and she had to make sure he was ready. She's currently teaching him the bases, what it means and what responsibilities comes with being a shadow hunter, and he'll be ready to take the trials soon.

They moved to Zandalar shortly before BfA started and that put a halt to his learning for the time being. Mina has much work to do and a whole plethora of new subjects to study and she needs his help for both of those - he doesn't mind the wait, Mina and many others told him the more he learns the best his chance is.

So far the only one who actually believes he's gonna make it is Mina, but Chilli does have potential and I'd say his chances of success are pretty good. We'll have to wait and see :)
