Resheph looks at Morrigan as he puts the fourth pizza in a row in the oven, he is listening to her as he places another one on the table in front of her and cuts it. She takes one of the triangular pieces but puts it on her plate to keep talking.

“So then he walks in…” she comments visible annoyed “and demands to see the body, he is shouting, WHERE IS HE, WHERE IS HE… that fragile soldier with the stab wound… why would he care so much?” she bites the piece of pizza angrily and chews with a frown.

Resheph quietly takes a piece and starts cutting it with a knife and a fork in smaller pieces. He takes one of them and eats slowly, calmly.

“I remember that day” he says quietly though he gets interrupted by her.

She slams the table with her hand “I’m a professional” she takes another triangular piece, bites it and chews it bothered “I’m death and destruction, you fool! I wanted to slap him” she screams, a pepperoni falls from the piece of pizza on her hand to the table.

“You shouted that at him?” Resheph expression is almost neutral because he knows that didn’t happen, but his mouth starts to form a smirk. At times, anger still amuses him, the loss of control tickles him.

“I did not” she finished the crust and takes another piece “I fully ignored him as I was on my way to take the soul to the underground” she sighs “He wasn’t punctual, he didn’t do his job. That’s not my problem.”

Resheph eyes roll. Inefficiency, especially in the middle of a battle, it also got on his nerves.

“So… he shouts at me again and I say: you raise your voice at me one more time and I swear you will end up dead like the rest of them" 

Resheph laughs unable to stop himself, moments like this made him remember why he liked Morrigan so much, apart from their inevitable connection, her being the goddess of death and him being the god of war, they had grown closer sharing similar views in eternal life. Maybe they would dare to call each other allies or even… friends. She was temperamental and unafraid, and he respected that.

“I would never not find it hilarious that you said that to Hades” he leaves the cutlery over the plate and keeps laughing.

“I mean, I obviously couldn’t actually kill him, and I knew and he knew, but you know I can be very menacing” she eats the last piece of pizza leaving both her plate and the one in the center of the table empty.

Resheph stands and checks the pizza in the oven, it will be done soon. Morrigan stays in silence observing him for a few seconds until the oven beeps alerting of the time.

“Ah… I wonder why I had the urge to come here and tell you all these stories again, like you didn’t know them” she says partially regretful, though Resheph can’t imagine her feeling regret for anything “I guess I’m just frustrated, human jobs aren’t as fun, though I do get to scream to a lot of incompetent people too but… it’s not the same…” she smiles “I guess I can count on you to listen to my complains when no one else will.” there is a pause, an unsaid thank you perhaps.

“Oh, sure.” he chuckles opening the oven and touching the hot metal with his bare hands as it won’t do anything to him, he takes the new pizza and put it on the empty plate “Whenever you are frustrated, just come in my house and eat all of my pizza.” 

♣️ - weakness/soft spot headcanon

He has a soft spot for military dogs. He can deal with people hurting each other, he sees that as them making a choice and that’s on them, but putting those poor animals through it, he is disgusted. So when he sees a doggie he gets a little soft. 

Resheph chuckles, he has been quiet for a while, listening to some nonsense he doesn’t care about, fake hopes, impossible ideas. The naive thought of everything being solved by believing it can be.

“What’s MY issue?” he breaks his silence looking up at the person asking him “This garbage you all are trying to feed me” he says getting upset “We can save them, we can protect this place. They need us” he mocks them “Are we all going to solve the problems of the world by just sitting here and talking about them? Why should I care to begin with?” he shouts.

He knows chances are he is one of the few that has that mentality in the room, but he is done, he didn’t even want to be there, though he tried to give a chance, to be open, maybe see the other side for once, but that was incredibly dull. Every time they speak he feels like they are laughing at him, and it seems they all are taking him for an idiot that can be brainwashed by kind words.

“Why should any of us care? There is nothing worth saving in this miserable place” he says looking directly to Inanna “What are we trying to save? Humanity?” he talks loudly again “They are their own demise, with their greed and ambition and their destructive behaviour” the room is silent, though the looks they are giving him speak for themselves “I have been in their heads, I know first hand what people are capable of for power, or a simple piece of terrain, for fake promises, for religion, for US, FUCK” he shouts “They will find any excuse to destroy themselves, so let them do it” he pauses noticing how his anger is making him shake “Saving this condemned place is wasting our time” he says furious “You keep dreaming about that perfect world, about that redemption and safe place for all, but I tell you, I have seen it, history repeats itself, and they will never learn until they kill each other for good” these lasts words resonate strongly in the room, and no one replies to him, what for, now they know he won’t change his mind. Maybe they feel like fools, maybe they think the fool is him. Not worthy.

💭 - daydream headcanon

He sometimes wishes he could go back. Old times were better. He felt stronger and younger, now he is just tired and his mind is not as it used to be. He was less concious of things, he suffered less, it was easier to be the god of war then.

😒 - disgust headcanon

He is super disgusted by humans in general, their behavior, their desires, he knows them way too well and had always seen the worst of them. Living among them is terrible, and he hopes to interact with them the least as possible.

🍬 - sweets headcanon

He associates sweets and baked goods with offerings. Traditionally people would pray to him ask him for protection during war and offer him food. He appreciated them, as it takes time to prepare them and put thought into them, he sees them as a symbol of respect, however he never really liked the flavour.

He doesn’t sleep too well. Up all night is most of his nights, because even when he tries and seems like he can get some hours of rest, his dreams are filled with gruesome memories and he is constanly woken up by nightmares.
