Iâm not dead! (and I apologize in advance for the quality)
My OC Perditaâs debut! I think Iâll write a quick lil prologue for each of my OCs, so hereâs the first!
Perdita was lost. Really, truly lost. Here she was, in a foreign country all alone, with a dead phone battery in a rainstorm in Kyoto.
She should have double majored in cartography and some sort of navigation instead of pastry arts and nursing. Maybe she wouldnât have been so hopeless at finding her way around Japan. Then again, she had always been terrible at directions, so maybe it was inescapable, and no amount of drawing maps could fix it.
And anyway, it looks like she's found her solution, thereâs a stand stuffed full with travel guides near some sort of monument. Plus, there was Sasuke! Sasuke would help her, hopefully. They'd had a terribly awkward meet cute at her orientation yesterday, so with luck he'd remember her.
She begins to race over to him, sending water splashing everywhere with each footstep. When she reaches him at last, she stops to catch her breath, while using her hands to stuff several of the travel guides into her bag.
âSasuke! Itâs good to see you! Can I borrow your phone? Mine died and-â
âPerdita! You shouldnât be here.â
âHuh? What do you mean? I know thereâs a lot of lightning and stuff, but we arenât under any sort of tall object, so we should be okay. Iâve been running around in for the better part an hour, and Iâm no worse for wear. Well, actually-â
âReally, it isnât safe to be here.â He looks panicked, and his arms twitch as if they want to shove her away.
âYou should leave, right now. I mean it, Perdita.â
âSasuke, why are you-â
Suddenly, she gets her answer as lightning strikes the monument, blinding her and sending her spinning. The air around her contacts, expands, and finally blows her forward, leaving her crumpled on the floor.
The first thing she feels after reinhabiting her body is wet grass. Dewy, fresh grass that feels more like a bed than her concrete dorm mattress ever will.
Unfortunately, the grass, soft as it was, did not break her fall well, and her attempts to get up are met with sharp stabs of pain, along with pathetic mewls escaping from her mouth.
Exhausted by her efforts, she lays face down, breathing in the astringent smell of the earth beneath her. She doesnât move until she hears heavy footsteps, and smells the unmistakable scent of fish.
She attempts to prop herself up, but freezes in shock when she hears a deep voice coo, âHush kitten, donât run away before you get a taste of this salmon!â
The owner of the voice appears from the shadows, and his scarred cheeks are bright red.
âNot a kitten after all, then.â
âWell, allow me to get you back on your feet. Helpless kitten or not, you shouldnât be alone in the woods, demons lurk here at night.â
âThank you.â She offers him a shaky smile as well as her thanks, relying heavily on his proffered arm to get up.
âOff you go, young lady.â
âWait! Can I get your name, before I go?â
âMy name is Kennyo, and I am a travelling monk.â
