You were in a hallway of your old 'home'— one you could not recognize. The warm lights above you were dim, but when you looked up at the ceiling, you got dazzled by the sudden cold light. You kept your head down, and the lights warmed up again. 

There was no other way to go, and turning back didn't seem like a good option, so you kept going forward. The further your advanced, the cleared was the ending of the hallway. You could see it...

A brownish door. Not so red, not so natural brown as the wood.

It seemed as if someone had tried to paint it, but the color had too much water…

You grabbed the doorknob, holding it still.

Breathe in… breath out. You closed your eyes and opened the door, but then…

A fresh tomato and a firm carrot, placed on a chopping board, was in front of you. 

You glanced at your left side, finding a neat and tidy dishwasher, with no dish waiting.

You turned to your right, finding a tall figure wearing a pink apron and a red cape draped around their neck that reached halfway down his back. You tried to look up and search for a face, but you only found white. Smooth like a porcelain, white like the snow.

The coolest white you have ever seen.

You couldn't help but smile at them, and even though you couldn't read their expression, you just felt they smiled back at you. You both shared a great toothy smile, or that's what you thought.

You checked out their gloved hands —of a sweet red like apples— as they took the chopper table with the vegetables with their left and held a knife carefully with their right and started to cut the carrot with confidence and a brisk rhythm, cooking just like a real chef.

They're so cool.

Even if your hands were idle and restless to help, you were glad to be by their side, keeping them company and watching them cook. You were sure that if they needed anything, they would require your assistance immediately.

You turned to look around and the first thing you noticed was the table with empty chairs… you just know that there should be someone lazing around right now, but you can't tell who. Just like everything else, you still don't recognize this kitchen, and yet your heart... no, your Soul tells you this is where you want to be, wherever this is.

You trusted those words.

You walked to the glass sliding door, which seemed to lead to a garden outside, but the other side looked blurry and confusing through the glass, so you slid the door open, letting the wind come in first.

You blinked when the wind reached your face and then...

There was an orange in your hand, with a piece missing.

You didn't feel like you ate that missed piece. Who took it away from you?

You realized that you were sitting on some stairs of what looked like a building, with your shoulder lying on railings and your feet close to the ground.

You hear a voice behind you, so you spun around to look up at someone… A person. She was just a couple of steps higher up, but she still felt so distant. You remember how she was, but you're not sure if you know who she is now.

She looked just as your memory recalled her— someone who seems to always spend their time outside, under the morning sun and alongside the wind, enjoying the daylight, combining their colors with the fallen leaves of autumn, and just living her life. 

So warm, so nice, so awfully happy all the time.

How true was her smile?

You wanted to give them your sincerest smile, but your eyes began to well up. 

You couldn't help it, you felt too much. It wasn't your fault, they never judged you for being so emotional, so expressive... Such a crybaby, you won't say.

You couldn't see her blurred face, you didn't want her to see yours either. You looked in another direction, trying to find other interesting things that could distract you both.

When you shut your eyes and the tears fell down to your cheeks...

A yellow watercolor, just a simple dot, was all alone in an empty canvas.

Aureolin yellow, you noticed.

You stared down at your hands, a clean paintbrush was in your right, a palette with colors in your left hand. Looking further, you noticed the grass, so tall it brushed your knees, you couldn't even see where you were standing.

Where were you now anyways?

You gaze up at the sky, covered by clouds that appeared more gray compared to the white of your canvas. You saw your blank canvas and decided to start painting, determined to give that yellow dot some company.

But what will you draw?

You are not sure.

You placed your hand in the canvas, slowly tracing every linen texture to feel it in your fingers, you noticed how the yellow dot was already dry. 

What can you draw..?

You checked behind your canvas, and in the distance you saw a large field of sunflowers searching for the sun hidden among the heavy clouds.

You smiled as you thought that you could draw a sunflower! There's already a yellow spot, so you could make more.

You glanced at the bench next to you and found a camera pointed at the horizon... Oh, it was looking at other flowers at your side.

Forget me not flowers. The blue of petals seemed more brilliant and alive than the sky... 

Something tells you that there's already a blue, as cute as the one in the flowers, that will be your favorite. You didn't understand where that came from, but you believe that it's true.

Suddenly you remembered that you were holding a paintbrush ready to paint, so you checked out your palette with the watercolors, spotting the yellow next to the blue and the red one… there's an empty space, just right next to those, where it's supposed to be another color.

What color is missing?

You squeezed your eyes shut, trying to figure out which one is, but then…

You didn't see anything.

Just darkness.

It felt familiar, but something wasn't there.

Like a box without any exit, a room without any gaps.

But something is here.

You hesitantly moved forward, steps unsteady and uncertain —you don't think that you were moving by choice, but rather out of an impulse.. one that wasn't yours.

The closer you got to the center of the room, the better you could see…

Well, there was a tree here. The trunk was shades of white to gray, but the leaves... they looked so vibrant against the black background.

What was that?

You felt puzzled, to say the least, but you didn't even know why. It was like when you return from a place and feel that you left something behind— even if you didn't take anything with you.

You checked behind the tree— something wasn't there. You felt like you were missing something, but you couldn't quite put your finger on it… The texture of the tree doesn't even feel normal in your hands, it felt so wrong, so out of place.

Where is this place? You don't think that you should be here alone.

You shut your eyes and exhaled in frustration, and then…

An aquarium took all your vision, such a dark and yet shiny blue, with thousands of fish swimming in circles with their little pods.

You were amazed by the size of the tank, feeling so much excitement building up in your hands at seeing so many fish up close —even a manta ray! Just like they looked on TV— so spectacular...

You glanced at your companion by your side, a figure slightly shorter than you, who was also curiously observing the fish. You didn't recognize their face— you only saw white, but you felt you already knew their expression well, even if they didn't show it. They seemed in awe.

Not sure why, but something tells you that your companion is a he. You just followed that hunch.

Suddenly, he turned to look at you too, and that's when you noticed the two big hollows in his face, like two sockets... Now that you looked at him well, those sockets weren't empty— there was a bright white dot, expanding in size, in the center of both.

Eyelights.

You got mesmerized, in the same way when you look at the cutest stars in the night sky.

You locked eyes and it just felt like the most casual thing you could do now. Even if you'd wanted to do something more… he looked away first. The blue light of the aquarium shone on his face, matching the rest of his clothes— that light blue looked so adorable with the white of his face.

Something screamed at you that the light blue wasn't it from the aquarium, but you paid no mind.

You found it curious the way he was acting, you’re used to being the first one to avert your eyes when you were holding eye contact. You won this time!

Your chest was filled with joy, feeling so light and happy, like you never felt before. You chuckled under your breath to release your emotions, closing your eyes unintentionally, and then…

A purple crayon was in your hand, drawing the two vertical lines in the blue of that striped shirt of what looked like…

WAIT.

This is a memory, not just a dream! 

Hold on, a lucid dream?

You remember this, it just happened a few weeks ago.

You were at a café, the place where you always go for lunch— and you also worked there, like a year ago. You were sitting at your preferred table, drawing with the crayons you bought to share with that kid you met there…

… Frisk.

The little kid!

The last time you saw them, they had that striped shirt and that bandage —why do they have it anyway? How often did they got hurt? Were they okay? You should have asked when you could…

It's in the past. You can't do anything about it now.

You probably stared at them for too long since they looked at you, obviously confused. Your brows drew together and your eyes flooded with tears. They seemed so happy drawing with you.

If you close your eyes, you won't be able to see them anymore.

You were about to say something, but they scrunched up their face and put a finger over their lips, so your mouth snapped shut without a sound.

Now you were confused.

They tilted their head to the side, pointing at… something? You looked around the café —trying not to blink too hard— but you couldn't see another person in this place, even if you remember that this place is frequently for a lot of people but-.

Tap tap tap tap.

They quickly tapped the table with their crayon, right above their drawing of a golden flower, and tilted their heads again at the same side… You looked at the walls, glancing at the art paintings. Specifically, the one who replicates Mount Ebott.

You looked back, but…

Frisk was gone. 

Your heart sink in.

And your eyes opened.

… You're in your bed, in your room, in your apartment, in the middle of the night, the moon is still in the sky. You sit up and bring your hands to your head, feeling the coldness of your fingers and the heat of your face at the same time.

That last part… the Mount Ebott? What about it? Why did Frisk insist on paying attention at it..?

Your mind wandered off, until you remembered the first part of your dream. Those people… Three in total: two ‘strangers’ who felt like you knew them so well, and a friend who is only a distant memory, one that you don't think you knew her so well.

You contemplated your desk for a moment. You have your colors and a lot of paper to use…

It's still midnight, but you want to draw —you’re determined to do it now— or at least make doodles and sketches about this dream, while you can still remember…

You'll find a way to recreate those figures, their shapes, their colors, so you can identify them and probably one day…
