OK!! I have been meaning to draw more of Aki for a while because I just. *clenches fist* I love them so much, but this has been a serious chicken/egg situation. Wasn't drawing them much because I didn't know what to do with the bangs, and didn't know what to do with the bangs because I hadn't drawn them much. I decided that I REALLY just needed to. sit down and try to work it out. Which turned into drawing a bunch of expressions too (drawn in a semi-random order) and throwing some color on for good measure
I'm still not 100% on this however!! This feels a bit closer to what was in my head and honestly isn't that far off of previous iterations. They have a lot of hair, it's long and mostly its a mess. Technically they have attendants that would be happy to help but he prefers to do it himself unless he's being required to Look Nice.
Regardless of my hair ponderings, I really like the expressions and think a lot of them turned out really nice lol. I'm going to ramble a little bit more here:
As a recap he is really a sentient city, but he is still bound into this body (which was his original form) to a degree. He's essentially operating two at once, with this acting as an avatar - and actually its the only real way he can express emotions in a way that his people can see. Some engineers still claim they can tell when his city-self is sulking, however.
The face going like EUGH/disgust was one of the first ones I did, originally I wasn't sure about it but it's so silly that I think it's hilarious.
The one >:0 in the middle is in fact a Tails Gets Trolled redraw and I also think it's really funny
Angry face - This one is so concerning from a character perspective. XD;; If this happened somewhere outside, maybe you could try to run away before he cut you down, but if you got him this mad inside The Beacon you would just be completely fucked. ๐ญ You are about to be pulled into a wall and Recycled (aka deconstructed into base ingredients for use elsewhere)
For the most part I think these came out just so cute, even the ones where they're clearly not having a good time aaaaaa
Couple other thoughts:
-Since this was meant to be a very quick thing I tried not to detail too much, however worth noting that his horns are made out of Xaidrion (crystallized magic) ~ I need to do a redraw of that stuff in general but it looks very similar to backlit Hรผbnerite. So! There's actually a lot more texture to them than depicted here. They could probably really mess someone up with a headbutt 8'D
-I've also been kind of reworking his "tattoos" to be thinner. (You can see them here on his neck and the forearms) I'll have to do a detailed, up close pic one of these days, but FROM a distance, they look like they're normal tattoos. However, up close they're actually really dense Turing-looking patterns, and they clearly move if you're looking at them long enough. This is part of the mechanism keeping them in that body and their siblings have similar markings.
-There are more hairstyles not shown. One being a style for flight/flying where its braided close to his head, and one of the more "regal"/nicer styles is a variation derived from that with a looser loop. Since Wind magic is one of his specialties he was the OG in the magic flying department. He walked (and broke his neck 5000 times) so everyone else could run
