I want aide to be an actually interesting protagonist antagonist character and I really don't wanna fall for the trick of "WELL SHES BAD BEFAUDE SHES A BIGOT OK" like I want her to be more interesting than that . but alsobshes bad because she's a bigot ok. like ohhhhhhhh my God it's not good actually it's bad it's bad it's bad NOT. a nice lady. NOT. the way she treats Calanthe is fucking crazy and the way she treats everyone else to justify her version of reality where she's the eternal victim for Calanthe escaping her is fucking crazyyyyy. I've been thinking aboutbher future and I'm like. if I'm gonna make a character who falls into abuse of power it's almost weirder if I don't make her personally abuse her power too ? especially if she's a repressed closeted lesbian who fucking Hates Her Life and her Kids. idk. thinking. But is it fucked up if I write a lesbian character as a groomer and chaser... well Calanthe is also a lesbian and she's not doing that shit she's like learning n listening and being communist. so. when I was younger n new 2 lesbianism I was intrigued by the princess x knight dynamic and then I grew up and realised owning someone is fucked up especially if you're romantic with them and they're just a tool of violence for you. so Aide represents this more childlike view of romanticising everything around her and believing colonial lies while Calanthe is moreso deconstructing everything slowly and reapproching life in a more free and healthy way outside of what she's told is correct and moral for her
