"Well, don't go making decisions right away. See what it is then weigh the pros and cons." She lets him know.
"So I need to do that for everything I want to do?" He asks following her to the kitchen.
"Business deals, yeah." She laughs getting leftovers out of the fridge.
"So I don't need to think about asking you out tomorrow night?" He smiles so she turns to face him, "It's not a business deal."
Callie just looks at him as he continues to smile, "What kind of date are you talking about?" She turns back around to warm her food up.
"Nothing too big because I know you aren't that type of girl. You like things simple."
"But you, Rafe Cameron, are not simple." Callie laughs turning to face him again.
"I can be simple for you." He steps closer to her.
Callie looks up at him and sighs, "I'm sorry. I wasted so much time trying to-,"
Rafe cuts her off, "Hey, hey, hey. There is nothing to be sorry about Callie. You don't owe me anything." He lets her know but she shakes her head.
"But if I just made up my mind earlier we would be together right now."
"Callie, listen to me. I don't care about the months you took to yourself. You and your aunt went on a huge vacation that you both deserve. And now we can be together. And if you're still not ready, I can wait." Rafe laughs a little.
"Why would you waste your time waiting on me?" She did get it.
"I don't see it as wasting time. Plus it's you. You're one of a kind. Especially to me since you are the first person to understand me." Rafe gives her a smile holding her hands.
"I don't want to go on a date." She tells him truthfully and she could see he was upset by that so she leans up grabbing his face, "I just wanna be with you." She smiles before kissing him.
"You do?" He was shocked.
"I do. Surprisingly I really do." She laughs so he kisses her.
"We've come a long way to get to this point."
"Enemies, to frenemies, to friends, to now lovers." Callie laughs wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Thank you."
"For what? Being your girlfriend?" Callie tilts her head.
"For helping me and giving me a chance." He rests his forehead on hers.
"Thank you for listening to me but you still have a lot to improve on. Like... making up with Sarah. You know, your sister." She reminds him so he throws his head back.
"Can we not right now." He groans.
"Hey, it has to happen. I can't be your girlfriend and her friend and y'all not make up." She tells him being serious.
"And I promise I will get to fixing that relationship with her at some point, I promise. I will but it's also gonna take time. Shit I have done to her, Callie."
"I know, and I believe you two will make up at some point because either of you have family at the moment. Rose won't let y'all see Wheezie." She believes he will try to fix him and Sarah at some point and it would take time after everything.
"Got any plans coming up?"
"Maybe later. Depends on the guys really and how the plan is going at the moment. And no I won't give you any detail." She gives him a smile.
"Wasn't gonna ask about it." He gives her a smile as well, "I don't care enough." He jokes so she hits him playfully before going up to her room.
"Sofia helped me finish up." She tells him as they enter her room.
"I will be annoyed if you two spend more time together than we do." Rafe sits on the bed watching her mess with clothes.
Slowly he starts to wonder about things. Why the hell was she giving him a chance after everything he's done to her and her friends. They are nothing alike like her and JJ. She wasn't meant to be with someone like him but JJ. If JJ never messes up she would still be with him and not have feelings for Rafe.
"You okay over there? You're awfully quiet." Callie looks back at him seeing the look on his face, "Rafe?" She walks over to him.
"Why me?" He looks at her, "I'm no JJ. If he never messed up this won't happen."
Callie knew he was right, "But he did mess up and if he never did we would still be friends. But I'm happy he messed up and I don't want you to be a JJ. I like you Rafe. I want to be with Rafe not JJ." She grabs his hand, "If I didn't have feeling for you I would tell you I wanted to be with you."
"Even after everything?"
Callie giggles, "Even after everything, Rafe." She gives him a kiss.
Later in the Callie is caught up on the plan and that JJ had to lose his bike in order for them to know where the ship was. "Heard you lost your baby." Callie walks over to JJ.
"Don't remind me." He groans setting up things.
"You know, I have this friend that could get you a new one if I ask." She tells him.
"I don't want anything from Rafe, Callie." He looks at her.
"I wasn't talking about Rafe. I was talking about my aunt's boyfriend. He owns a shit ton of bikes and he's a newly self-made Kook that still lives on the Cut." She lets him know.
"Tess is dating a newly Kook?" He laughs.
"He hates being called a Kook by the way. But he would give you one for free. He's really nice."
"I'll thing about." He goes back to working.
"Also you can't dive without a buddy." She tells him since she was worried about him. After all he was still her friend.
"Of course I can."
"But it's not safe so I'm going with." She lets him know.
"It's 80 feet down in the dark. And moving through structures." He lets her know.
"And I've been in similar situations in water." She looks out at the water.
"Not the same at all." He chuckles, "And even for experts, it's a hairball situation." He adds.
"Which you're not so." She crosses her arms looking back at him.
"Neither are you." He smiles at her so she laughs.
"I already decided, so... get used to it."
"Okay." He laughs as well.
"All right. Listen up. We got the nav points, and we've got the gear. We're in and out, all right This is one night only. We slip down under. We stay under the radar. All right? JJ, you're going down." John B starts to go over the plan.
"Um, actually, I'm going down too." Callie raises her hand and Kie looks at her,
"Okay. JJ and Cal go down. Me and Pope stay up. Sarah, Kie, and Cleo, you guys drive out
to the lighthouse by the Coast Guard base. Stand watch. Do this right, we're home by midnight." John B finishes up.
"Clock's ticking." JJ gets on the boat.
"Fun, fun." Pope gets on too.
"Just like old times." John B sighs.
"Yep." Callie agrees.
"Later, y'all." JJ tells the girl on the dock.
"Don't do anything we wouldn't do." Cleo tells them, mainly JJ.
"Yo, guys, lighten up. Okay? All right? You're making me nervous. We're gonna slide down there, take a peek. Worst that can happen, it's not there, old fart's disappointed, we go home. Pogues win. Okay? That's the worst. Meantime though, who wants to crack one with me?"
"No. Hey, hey. No." Callie takes the beer from JJ, "No drinking." She give John B the can to move away from him.
"All right. It just takes the edge off."
"John B, we're in Coast Guard territory now. Should be about 20 yards. One o'clock. Okay, that's close enough. Hey, slow her down. We're at the drop site now." Pope tells the group.
"JJ, what's our depth?" John B asks.
"Seventy-eight."
"Okay. Ready?" John B looks at Pope.
"Here we go." Pope nods his head, "Switch out. You guys get ready." Pope tells JJ and Callie, "John B, keep us in position." Pope tells him.
"Honestly, it's kind of like surfing The Point, you know? We're upstream, and then the rip is just gonna... take us out." JJ tries to ease the tension.
"Right." Callie takes a deep breath in as Jj messes with the spear gun, "Is that necessary?"
"Yeah, yeah, I mean, reef, fish..." John B lists.
"And the man in the gray suit." JJ adds.
"That too."
"Don't forget your safety stop, all right? Fifteen feet for three minutes." Pope tells the two, "Hear that, JJ Fifteen feet, three minutes."
"Copy that."
"Because of the bends... Nitrogen in the blood, excruciating pain, death, and stuff." Callie remembers what will happen if they don't.
"Hey, you good?" JJ looks at Callie suited up.
"Yeah." She nods her head.
"Okay. Let's do it, then." He puts his hand out to help her stand up.
"All righty." She says ready, "Diver down."
"Diver... down." JJ says the same, "All right, Callie. You ready?"
"Yeah, I'm good." She says before they both fall back into the water.

Like Callie said she met up with the others after being home for a bit and they catch her up on how screwed they really are. "How the hell are we gonna get that type of money?" Callie messes with her nails as she leans against the railing.
"Why are you here anyways?" JJ speaks up messing with a knife sitting alone.
"Excuse me?" She looks at him, "I'm part of this group still. Sorry I went off for a while to get a break from everything."
"She's still part of the group, dude." John B tells him.
"Who's friends with Rafe still after everything. What was it only 18 months ago you two were hooking up. Staying on figure 8 with him just to get over me."JJ chuckles so Callie walks over slapping him across the face.
"I had nowhere else to go! Remember that? So fuck you. And you're really pushing it to where I don't even want to be friends with you anymore." She leaves the group going home.
"At least see if you can get money out of the psychopath!" He shouts as she gets in her car. Everyone looks over at JJ wondering why the hell he was acting that way, "What? I'm right. It's fucking Rafe." He looks at everyone.
"Don't you think you're pushing it?" Kiara sighs so JJ laughs more.
"Don't say anything you might regret." Pope points his finger at JJ so JJ gets up to go on a walk alone while everyone sighs.
Sarah shakes her head watching JJ in the distance, "Trust me, I get what he means when it comes to my brother but he's out of line with Callie. What the hell happened to him?" She looks at everyone.
John B and Pope can't help but glance over to Kiara, "Seriously?" She glares at them.
"Well, if I remember correctly. You did develop feelings for JJ when they were together and y'all almost kissed and didn't tell her about it. So I was the good friend who told her. And now you and JJ are a couple because Callie didn't get back with him." Pope can't help but tell the truth.
"We aren't together just because she didn't take him back." Kiara crosses her arms and the others avoid eye contact with her, "That's what you guys believe?! I'm not being used for him to get over her."
"Kie, we didn't say that last part. You did." John B gives her a look, "It obvious JJ has feeling for you too. That's why everything happened in the first place."
As everyone slowly splits apart do their own thing for the day, Callie was arriving home and sees Sofia waiting on her porch. "Hey, hey!" She stands up once Callie gets out of her car. "Rafe, may have told me your address. I thought we could hangout? I don't really have people to hang out with besides from Rafe. I don't really care for the other Kooks."
"I'm with you on that last half." Callie laughs, "We can hangout here. I don't mind. My room is still a slight mess though because I was redoing it." Callie lets her know.
"I don't mind. I'll even help you out with your room." Sofia smiles, "Nice house by the way. The best on the Cut." She follows Callie inside.
"My dad is a Kook and he built this. Have no idea where he is now. Rafe might know. It's just me and my aunt Tess that live here. Aunt Tess!" Callie shouts to find her.
"Cleaning the bathroom!"
"There's someone I want you to meet!" They shout back and forth till Tess joins them. "This is Sofia. She works at the country club and is also friends with Rafe."
"Rafe is friends with another Pogue?" Tess was shocked. She didn't count Barry as one because the two weren't exactly friend friends. "Callie, you really did rewire some of his brain."
"Yep. But we'll be in my room." Callie leads the way.
"Nice meeting you Sofia!"
The two girls got to really know each other while finishing up the room and they were surprised at how well Rafe said they would get along. Just a few hours seemed like years of friendship.
At the same time as things look bleak for the group, they soon received attention for their El Dorado discovery and were hailed as heroes.
"An expedition of one man, John Routledge, and a group of teenagers, who are with us today. Locals, who grew up here and who succeeded where centuries of conquistadors, explorers, and admirals failed. Today, we come together to celebrate these teens, friends from both sides of the island who came together to solve this five-year-old mystery. Let's hear it for them!"
The crowd applauds and cheers for the group as they sit there then stand up give the crowd a smile.
"Okay, I need a reset. I need a reset right now. This is a lot. It's time to celebrate." JJ says as the group go stand together away from everyone.
"I'll take one hit. One." Pope tells him, "One."
"Bad man now." Cleo looks at him.
"Big John would've thought this was all bullshit." Sarah laughs.
"Excuse me. I... I don't mean to interrupt." A man walks over to them.
"Uh, can we help you?"
"Yes. I wanted to tell you all it's remarkable what you all did. Royal Merchant, El Dorado, Denmark Tanny. Impressive résumé, impressive. I was wondering if you would all be so kind as to look at an item of mine." The man passes over a book and Pope takes it.
"Oh yeah? What type of item is that?"
It's a manuscript. I would investigate it myself, but I'm too long in the tooth. I need partners, and you all were first on my list.
"This is a captain's log." John B looks at the man.
"Who is the captain?" JJ asks.
"Edward Teach. Blackbeard." And that all lead the group to an invitation to Wes Genrette's old estate to discuss Blackbeard.
On the way to goat island, they talk about the past and all the rumors about the people from there. "Okay, why are we doing this again?" Cleo asks the group.
"Because we need money." Pope, Sarah, and Callie tell her at the same time.
Once they dock at the island they are lead up to the house and they meet the son in law of Wes, Chandler Groff, who lets them in the house.
The group was uneasy, especially when Wes arrives and tells them a bizarre story about Blackbeard and Elizabeth, claiming a ghost had visited him. Wes explains that the group needs to retrieve an amulet from Blackbeard's last ship, the Adventure, to lift a 300-year-old family curse. That the amulet is hidden off Goat Island, and Wes offers them $50,000 with $5,000 upfront to recover it.
While they discuss if they should take the deal or not JJ decides for the whole group telling Wes they'll do it, "Now, that initial 5k, is that that right there?" JJ walks over to Groff, who hands over the money.
"Hey, you know what? Actually, I think I'll take this for safekeeping." Pop takes the money from JJ.
"You won't regret this, sir. I promise you. We'll get the job done." JJ shakes Geoff's hand.
As the group leaves the island, Sofia texts Callie to invite her to the party she was at with Rafe. Callie tells her she'll show up in a bit when they get back to the island.
When they do get back, Callie goes home to change into something nice before heading to the party. She honestly didn't want to be at a Kook party but she wanted to see Sofia. And plus Rafe wouldn't let anyone give her shit.
"I don't remember you being inviting to the party." Ruthie sees Callie walk through the doors stopping her.
"Oh, but I was." Callie gives her a smile.
"Are you giving me an attitude, bitch?" Ruthie asks as Sofia spots Callie so she tells Rafe to look who showed up.
Rafe smiles walking over to the two, "What a surprise!" He hugs her so Ruthie walks away. "How did you know about Toppers party?"
"Sofia invited me." She tells him so he looks over at Sofia, who gives him a smile as well. "I feel like I need a friend that's not any of the others, you know?" She means the six.
Rafe nods his head, "I get it. Let me know if anyone gives you shit." He leaves her so she goes over to Sofia.
"You didn't tell Rafe I was coming?" Callie laughs joining her side.
"I may have forgotten to tell him." Sofia plays with her drink then sees how Callie was looking at her, "What? I can't surprise him with you?"
"What's going on?" Callie asks confused, "I thought you had a thing for Rafe? That's what I was picking up when we first met. Now you are surprising him with me?"
Sofia grabs Callie's hand to bring her closer to her, "You weren't wrong. I did have a thing for him but I know he still has feelings for you and it's the same for you. I care about Rafe and I want to be his friend."
"Sofia, Rafe knows I want to focus on myself." Callie tells her.
"I get that. I do, but just see what happens without forcing yourself not to. Listen, I know it's not my business but Rafe was ranting to me and then hearing what you said that day... If JJ is doing well with Kie...why can't you try with Rafe? Just think about it." Sofia tells her before excusing herself to go use the bathroom.
Callie looks over at Rafe getting more to drink before looking away downing her drink. She hated how Sofia had a tiny point. Maybe she should just see what happens without telling herself no.
"Fuck it." Callie walks over to where was talking with a woman.
"Oh hi." The lady smiles, "Who's this?" She asks Rafe.
"This is Callie." Rafe moves her closer to him, "Callie this is Miss Hollis." He introduces them.
"The biggest Realtor on the island." Callie knows of her, "I believe you helped my dad a long time ago."
Hollis tilts her head not knowing, "William Warner, is her father." Rafe tells Hollis.
"Oh yes!" Hollis remembers him, "He was great before he went a little...you know."
"Yeah." Callie nods her head.
"Well it was nice meeting you. And take care Rafe." Hollis leaves the two.
"What did she want with you?" Callie asks him.
"You jealous?" He jokes with her.
"Yeah, what did she offer you?" She laughs shaking her head at him.
"It depends... What do you think? After all she's a cougar too." He pokes at her.
"You are so stupid." She swats his hand away, "I'm gonna go find Sofia." She tries to walk off but he wraps his arms around her playfully.
"No, I haven't seen you in months. You can spend time with me."
"Hey, I'm here aren't I?" She turns around looking up at him, "At a Kook party... Topper's party at that. The guys already hate that I get along with you, and they would hate it even more if they knew I'm with people who hate us."
"You just get along with me? What happened to being your friend?" He laughs as she just looks at him before smiling.
"You just wanna be my friend?" She asks him and he looks at her getting a little confused.
"Huh?"
Callie giggles, "Let's just see what happens." She sees Sofia watching them so he gets out of Rafe's arms, "I'm gonna go hangout with your wingman." As Callie joins Sofia's side, she couldn't help but smile, "Why are you smiling?" Callie asks her.
"Nothing."
"Nothing my ass." Callie laughs.
"So are you taking my advice?" Sofia hands Callie a drink.
"I'm just going with the flow and we'll see what happens." Callie tells her before taking a sip of her drink.
"Hopefully there's no stop signs or yield signs." Sofia makes Callie laugh.
Rafe looks over at the two giggling and talking. He couldn't believe two people he's hooked up with were getting along so well. He couldn't even believe Sofia was actually helping him out with Callie.
After a few more hours of chatting with Sofia and Rafe at times, Callie decided to head on home. Sofia gives her a hug and hopes they can hangout alone again soon. Rafe gives her a hug as well and tells her thanks for swinging by Topper's party.
"Where were you to be dressed up?" Tess laughs as Callie comes in through the front door.
"Sofia, invited me to Topper's party to hangout with her and Rafe."
"And how was that?" Tess pays close attention to her.
"Alright. Sofia is still nice to hangout with." Callie heads to the kitchen to get a drink.
"And Rafe?" Tess asks following her into the kitchen.
"What about Rafe?"
"Anything change or still just friends?" Tess chuckles a bit.
"I'm going with the flow. I thought I should take Sofia's advice. I mean, JJ and Kie are working out so..."
"Why not try with Rafe." Tess finishes the sentence so Callie nods her head.
The next day she didn't really want to go but she decides to go anyways to support Rafe and JJ. As soon as she gets there JJ sees her. To him she looked different, like she was glowing. He liked that she looked like her old happy self but at the same time she didn't look like herself.
"Callie!" He shouts to call her over so she gives him a little wave. "You're back finally." He laughs as she walks up to him.
"Yeah, my aunt took us on a trip. Super last minute. No plan whatsoever. Just got up and left the next morning." She laughs and he was happy to see her smile again. "Also I hope you do well in the race." She tells him.
"Me too. I bet our last nugget on me." He tells her and she gives him a look, "Listen before you go off on me for how I am..."
"The last nugget? Excuse me!" She yells at him anyway, "Are you fucking crazy. Forget I asked that we both know you are. Like you just said." She shakes her head grabbing John B's attention so he goes over.
"I'm crazy but you aren't for having a thing for the psycho over there? You're a hypocrite." He didn't mean to say it but it just slipped out.
"What up?" John B asks reaching them and he saw the look on Callie's face.
"I can't do this right now/" Callie walks away and Rafe sees her.
He excuses himself from Sofia jogging over to Callie. Sofia watches him since she hasn't heard much about Callie, but she recognized her from when Callie used to work at the club.
"You made it. The race starts soon." He lets her know, "I was starting to think you weren't going to show up." He sees the look on her face as well, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing important, just JJ. And I didn't know if I wanted to come but here I am." She laughs then see Sofia looking over at them, "New girl?" She motions over so Rafe looks where she was talking about. She also recognized Sofia a bit but they never really talked just passing hellos.
"She's a friend. She's a Pogue as well actually." He starts to laugh.
"I know that. And Rafe is friends with two Pogues? You're making progress." She applauds him.
"Shut up." He playfully pushes her, "I'll let you go to the others." He motions over to where they were.
"Good luck." She pats his chest going over to the others.
When Rafe goes back to where he was he sees Sofia looking at Callie walk away, "You good?" He laughs at her.
"Who was that?" She asks him to even though she knew.
"You don't know Callie? I think you two would get along well." He lets her know.
"I mean, I had seen her at the club before when she used to work there. How did you meet her?" She wanted to know more.
"Her aunts boyfriend knew my dad and her dad knew Rose and she's friends with Sarah. Our story would take too long to explain. Why do you care?" He gives her a look.
"I was just curious." She watches Callie rush over to Sarah.
"I'm back." She smiles joining Sarah's side.
"Cal! About time. You missed all the building of our dream."
"I know and I feel I didn't get to help but I really needed that getaway." She says and Sarah knew what she meant.
"Did it help?" Sarah asks, "You look a lot more stress free." She laughs a bit.
"Yeah, it really did. I feel like a new me honestly. Don't feel the need to pick and choose. And Rafe told me about today so I'm here to support him and JJ." She tells her.
"So you aren't wanting to get back with JJ?" Sarah asks.
"It's been months... And I told him I wanted to focus on myself. I honestly don't care if he and Kie wanted to try or ended up trying. I told him no matter how much he tells himself those feelings are gone they aren't because I feel the same about..."
"Rafe." Sarah finishes for her, "I still have a strong dislike that you have some type of feelings for him but I can admit you make him better. Hopefully one day he can do that without you."
"Yeah." She agrees with her.
"So you're a 100% okay with JJ and Kie getting together, right?" Sarah really wanted to make sure.
"They're together now, right? Callie looks at her so Sarah nods her head a bit, "I'm not surprised and I don't care. Hopefully they are doing better than we did. I'm gonna get a drink." She walks off to get a beer.
Honestly, Callie always wondered where Kie took a turn from loving her and JJ finally getting together to wanting JJ for herself secretly. Kie was always the biggest supporter of them before she shifted.
Kiara sees Callie pass by then goes over to Sarah, "Callie's finally back, I see."
"Yeah, she hopes you and JJ are working out."
"She doesn't care?" Kie asks surprised.
"Not at all. She was the one to encourage JJ to ask you out."
Kie was surprised by the whole thing then sees Callie talking to Sofia, who had walked over to Callie to introduce herself, since a Rafe said they would probably get along.
"So you're friends with Rafe?" Sofia smiles.
"Yeah, it's very complicated." Callie laughs.
"So I just heard. How so?" Sofia asks wanting to know.
"Long story short: enemies to frenemy, to friends, to friends with feelings, to friends again. It's complicated." Callie laughs.
Sofia nods her head, "Yeah, seems a little complicated."
During the race JJ was a bit everywhere in what place he was in. Towards the finish he could've won if it wasn't for Rafe driving into him on purpose making them flip over their bikes.
"MOVE JJ!" Callie yells and he costs John B to lose making Topper win.
Everyone runs to celebrate Topper while the group goes to check on JJ. Well it wasn't the whole group because Callie went to Rafe first.
"What the hell be Rafe! You could've gotten you and JJ killed." She pushes him as he gets up.
"I was just helping my buddy out."
"You could've done it a better way!" She pushes him again. "I don't want to worry about either of you, damn it!"
"Sorry, but y'all gotta get used to it. The losing part." He tells her and John B hears.
"What?"
"I said get used to it. You can't win everything." Rafe repeats himself so they try to push each other but Callie and Sarah stop them.
"Stop now, Rafe." Callie tells him so he does but still looks at Sarah mad about their dad being gone. "Let's just go before you do someone stupid." She grabs his arm pulling him away. "I'll catch up with y'all later." She tells Sarah and John B.
"I don't need you to baby me." Rafe says as he walks with Callie still leading him away and Sofia follows behind the two.
"I don't?" Callie stops letting go of his arm, "Bye then." She turns to leave but he grabs her turning her back to face him.
She looks down at where he had hold of her then back at him basically telling him to let go of her so he does, "Sorry."
"If I'm not needed to keep you from fighting with John B then I can go. I have things to deal with the rest." She tells him.
"And you can go if you tell me what was the problem earlier with JJ." He gives her a look and Sofia was still near them standing by listening.
Callie rolls her eyes, "I called him crazy and he said I'm a hypocrite for having feelings for you." She tells him and sees the look in his eyes, "No!" She grabs his arm, "You won't do or say anything to him, Rafe. I mean it. It's not worth it." She looks him in the eyes begging him.
"Not worth it? He said you're a hypocrite but he's said he loved you more than Kie yet but now he's dating her?" He leans down to her level looking her in the eyes, "And I should really do nothing?"
Callie turns her head away and sees JJ walk alone down the beach, defeated and pissed off, before looking back at Rafe, "Yes, because it's the better thing to do. And you want to be better, remember?"
Rafe sighs standing up straight tilting his head back, "I hate you right now. You know how-,"
Callie cuts him off, "You are? Yes, I'm the most qualified person in that category after everything we've been through." Callie gives him a smile as he looks down at her.
Rafe just stares at her then sees Sofia was still watching the two of them, "See why I said you two would get along?" He points at Callie so she looks as Sofia with a smile as well.
"I do." Sofia forces a little laugh.
"I'm going home for a bit. Then catch up with the others after they cool down from the fight they will have later." Callie tells Rafe, "It was nice meeting you, Sofia." She shakes her hand before turning back to Rafe, "I hate that your buddy won and you cost my boys the race."
"I know you do." He gives her a smile making her smile back.
"See you whenever." She stars to head off.
"Love ya!" Rafe shouts to mess with her so she flips him off causing him to chuckle.
On the way back to Rafe's house, Sofia keeping thinking about Rafe and Callie and trying to really figure out their whole story with what she has been told.
"You still have feeling for her." She says aloud.
"Huh?" Rafe glances over at her.
"Callie's not just a friend to you."
"We've hooked up a few times so what? She's still my friend." He tells her, "You have a problem with Callie?" He looks at her again, "Because if you do I'm gonna tell you right now-,"
"I don't have a problem with her. She seems great and she's really nice." Sofia lets him know, "I'm just trying to figure y'all out. You clearly care about her a lot from what I saw."
"Yeah, I care about her so what?"
"You still have feelings for her." She says as they get to the house.
"Well, she doesn't have any for me." He gets out of his truck and she follows him.
"She literally said she did. That's why JJ called her a hypocrite. Rafe, just tell me if you still have feelings for her so I know I'm not wasting my time thinking you feel the same as I do." She says stopping him in his tracks to face her.
"I still do and I know she's never going to pick me over JJ. Not even when he's dating Kiara. You like me...because Callie made me slightly better. I learned from her because she is the only person who can fix me and make me feel really wanted. You help out a bit too but..."
"I'm not her." She nods her head, "Rafe, I care about you and I like you. You're a good person... And I want to help you out as your friend then."
"Help me out?" He questions confused.
"Like I said, I like Callie. She's someone I would be friends with so I will and I'll try to give her a little nudge towards you. Get her to see what she's missing. So what do you say partner?" Sofia puts her hand out and he looks at it.
"You're okay with us just being friends?"
"Looks like you could use another one that's not like Topper and more like Callie." She laughs so he shakes her hand.
You think it would be hard catching a ride back home to Outer Banks from South America but it wasn't. The Pogues really just slept for like three weeks till they got back. Tess did get the doctor to confess Will paid him to lie so Callie was free from Will and had a restraining order against him. She was also happy to see Callie and JJ were alright.
At the moment Callie was on her way to Tannyhill to see Rafe. As soon as he opened the door seeing her he pulls her into a hug.
"I have some news to share with you." She pulls out of the hug walking inside.
"What is it?" He asks, worried she choose JJ instead of taking time.
"It's about Ward..." She turn to face him.
"What happened?"
"He's dead...for real this time." She watches him sit down, "One of Carlos' men was going to shoot Sarah but he jumped in front of her to save her. He tackled the man off the cliff. He died being a good father." Callie's eyes get glassy, "I'm sorry, Rafe. I even helped Sarah put up a cross for him." Rafe stands up pulling her into a hug to cry so she comforts him.
"He said I was a good boy... I'm in control now. I'm the man. All of it is mine, everything here. That I proved myself... He loves me. He knows I'm a good boy because you see something in me and care for me."
"He's right and I do. At least your last conversion was good. He was finally proud of you. You got what you wanted from him. And thank you for giving my aunt money." Callie rubs his back.
"Of course. That's what friends do. They help each other out." He gives her a squeeze.
Suddenly when it was time for the gold, the group got together to see how much it was all worth. "Twenty pounds. 98.5% gold." The man tells the group.
"That translates to?" John B waits.
"This is money. A whole lot of money." The man tells him so everyone cheers as the two shake hands.
"Moment of truth. All right. Pin is 0000. Enter." John B puts in the pin as the group huddle around an ATM.
"You're kidding me." Callie gives him a look.
"What?"
"Tell me that's a temporary pin." Kie tells him as well.
"I thought nobody could guess." He tries to explain.
"Change that immediately." Pope tells him so he apologizes.
When the receipt comes out John B and JJ fight over the paper to see what the amount was and John B wins to read the amount while everyone looks over his shoulders to see.
"Okay. Our joint account balance... after paying JJ's resignation at 10:04am on Tuesday.."
"Oh come on. Get on with it!" Cleo tells him.
"Our joint account balance is one point one million, seventy-two thousand, five hundred and forty-nine dollars."
"You said mil?" JJ asks.
"Million?" Pope adds.
Everyone celebrates and Callie sees JJ walk off a bit so she goes over to him, "I thought you would be the happiest out of everyone." She leans against the fridge like he was.
"I'm happy."
Callie sighs tilting her head back closing her eyes, "But you're not, JJ." She looks back at him, "I know you well enough."
"I just wish certain things were like I wanted them to be." He gives her a look and she knew exactly what he meant.
She sighs looking away to see Kie looking over at them before looking away, "I wish the same but things happened." She tells him before walking away going outside.
Kiara watches her then walks over to JJ, "Still hasn't forgiven you?"
JJ looks at her, "I don't expect her to yet."
"If she truly loved you should would forget everything." Kie tells him so he leaves going to find Callie but she was no where to be seen.
Callie had walked off going to the nearest way to the beach. While she was walking, Rafe drove by but backed up seeing her, "Hey loser."
"Hey." She gives him a smile but it wasn't her normal smile.
"Where you headed to? I'll give you a ride." He offers so she takes it saying to take her to the beach.
Without saying anything once they get there, she gets out walking towards the water getting in then diving underwater. Rafe gets out rushing over to see what the hell she was doing.
"Relax would you." She laughs as he gets close to her.
"I hardly ever relax."
"Unless you're with me and you are so." She stands up giving him a smile.
"What's up with you?" He asks because she wasn't herself.
"Thinking about things. I love JJ but the more I take time to think... something doesn't feel the same anymore." She tells him, "And I can't figure it out."
"It's that one little broken piece that hasn't been put back with the others." He tells her what he thinks.
"Maybe it is." She agrees with him, "It's like something is holding it back from joining the rest."
Rafe nods his head, "You still just need time to heal and I'm sure he understands that. Your first love hurt you, you know." He tells her so she looks at him nodding her head as well agreeing with him.
When Rafe drops her off at her place, JJ was waiting outside for her. He still hated how close she was to Rafe. Callie automatically knew he wanted to say something as she walks up and Rafe drives off.
"You just vanished earlier."
"I wanted to go to the beach." She tells him truthfully.
"With Rafe?"
"No, I was walking and he drove by and saw me so he offered to drive me there. Why does it bother you? He's a friend." She goes to unlock the door and he follows her inside.
"A friend you've hooked up with and is an asshole."
"Why bring up that first part?" She turns to face him, "It doesn't matter because I'm single. We're still not together, JJ."
"Why is that still?"
"Because I don't know if I want to get back together, honestly. If it happened once how do I know it won't happen again?" She tells him.
"Callie, come on. I never worried about you and Rafe after you hooked up."
"I was single when I did that. You weren't when you wanted to kiss Kie. That's the difference." She tells him. "And those feelings for Kie aren't gone no matter what you tell yourself. I know that because how I have feelings for Rafe still from our time together." She steps forward taking his hands into hers, "I love you, JJ. I do. But I don't want to fear things that might or might not happen. I don't want a relationship with anyone right now so don't assume I'm going to run to Rafe. I just need time alone." She kisses his cheek going towards her room
"So we're done done?" He asks so she sighs.
"Maybe someday we can try again." She goes to her room so he could let himself out.
That whole conversation they had Tess had heard while in the kitchen being quiet so she could ease drop. Once JJ left she goes up to Callie's room to check on her.
"That was a big decision you made down there."
Callie looked over at her, "Yeah, and I stand by what I said. And like you said, I need to focus on myself."
"If that's the case... let's go on a little vacation. You need a getaway. Come on." Tess smiles clapping her hands excitedly.
"Seriously?" Callie laughs.
"Yes, we can leave in the morning. I'm free. Do you have any plans?" Callie shakes her head no so she stars to get things together to leave for tomorrow
The next morning as soon as both were awake they get there things together to leave for who knows how long. They didn't have a plan for anything and were just going with the flow. And after a good amount of months away when they got back home, Callie felt better.
Sadly they went back home for a few days before leaving again because Callie made a mistake by sleeping with Rafe again. She went by to surprise him she was back and they had a bit too much fun drinking.
After of a couple of weeks of trying to forget what happened, Tess and Callie go back home for good. Later the same day they got back, Rafe showed up knocking on the door, "Rafe?" Tess opens the door.
"Seeing you're back that means Callie is too right?" He asks her.
"Yeah, she's up in her room. Come in." Tess lets him in so he goes up to her room knocking on the door.
When she opens it she was surprised to see him just a bit, "Sup?" She lets him into her room and he sees she was changing it up.
"Needing a change?" He asks her, "Your hair is darker." He points out
"Yeah, a change was well needed." She laughs going back to painting her wall.
"Didn't you have the guys names carved here?" He asks pointing at the window.
"Wow, you really payed attention to things. And yes, I did but I fixed it up."
"What's up being more girly this time?" He laughs at her.
"It's not even that girly." She rolls her eyes, "Now what brought you here?“
"My dad's ashes arrived earlier and I put them in the ocean. You said you helped Sarah put up a cross for him but they found him lying at the bottom of a cliff left there."
"I did help but we didn't move his body, Rafe. Again I'm so sorry." She stops to face him so he pulls her into a hug. "Just remember he said he was proud of you because he left." She rubs his back, "I know you really needed that so don't forget that."
Rafe just cries into her for a bit and she didn't mind. She wanted him to let it out. She wanted to be there for a friend.
"Enough of that." He finally pulls back so she wipes his tears away laughing at him. “Why did you leave again after that night?” He ask her.
“I needed to think something’s over but I’m back for good now. Sorry for disappearing on you again.”
"It’s okay. Umm, tomorrow is Kildare Enduro. I'm in it and I believe JJ is as well." He lets her know. Just incase you have no plans." He walks towards her door to leave.
"I'll think about it." She gives him a smile as he leaves.
