overall, his love for you is enough to get him through this. he’s okay with being uncomfortable and upset and insecure, as long as he can go to you for reassurance. BUT! BIG, BIG BUT! you have to be alright with giving him that, and he needs a whole lot of it.

he is not the confident, independent guy he was when he first met you. he cannot handle distance and silence and weirdness the way the used to. he’s going to check in a lot more. he’s going to want more softness and sweetness from you. he’s going to need to feel you love him, because when he doesn’t, he starts spiraling.

so naturally, your relationship is going to change drastically.

the littlest things that didn’t matter before, like your friends and your alone time, bother him now. you can’t disappear for multiple hours without him following up with questions. you can’t get too close with a guy without having that “who is he to you?” conversation. you can’t get away with acting like you don’t want him— he simply can’t take it.

every second that he’s away feels like one where you’re slipping again, and he’s just too afraid to let that happen.
