So much fun reading to 1st-3rd graders this morning! I chose a book titled "Why" & it was awesome because I got to ask lots of questions! My favorite was "why do my feet stink" lol not mine but that's one of the questions in the book! Hilarious đ they were so funny and a lot of fun plus I got to read with my new friend @avabethh đ #OBRFW #ModelsRead #MissLouisianaPreTeen2016 #BeyondTheCrown #MoreThanAQueen #NationalAmericanMiss #SpreadKindnessLikeConfetti #RAKWeek2017
Luke 12:48 when God blessed you with talents & gifts, you should dedicate them back to Him by working hard at improving your skills AND by using them to bless others. Today is special for me because I get to spread kindness with @brfashionweek by reading to elementary school kids. This is a great opportunity to give back & to show other kids that we can make a difference doing just about anything that puts a smile on the face of someone else! That's what I like about Mr. Campbell & this organization. It's not just about the models & the fashion but it's also about our community & how we can help! Looking forward to tonight's For Kids By Kids fashion show & I'll be modeling in the Big Night show (so honored to be chosen) as well so please come out & support all the models & designers & the hard work everyone puts into making it a great event! You can visit my website (link in bio) to find out how to purchase tickets!! #OBRFW #BRFashionWeek #MoreThanAQueen #BeyondTheCrown #SpreadKindnessLikeConfetti #RAKWeek2017 #NationalAmericanMiss (at The Dufrocq School)

OneofaKind Baton Rouge Fashion Week: February 15 - 18, 2017
From flood streams to fashion dreams. OBRFW to aid local models. Â
By: Jourdan Riley BATON ROUGE, La â As tears fell down Mckenzie Perrionâs face, the questions âWhat is happening? Whatâs going on?â were all the preteen could register. Â
The Pierron family wasnât expecting their house to flood, nor could they predict having to be rescued by boat.Â
Over 100,000 homes were estimated to have flooded in the 2016 Louisiana Flood in August. The Pierron home just happened to be in one of the most impacted areas â Livingston Parish.Â
Founder and executive producer Brandon D. Campbell of Oneofakind Baton Rouge Fashion Week decided he wanted to do something to give back to the community.Â
This year, OBRFW asks for donations, in which proceeds will be used to help OBRFW alumni who have been affected by the flood.Â
Mckenzieâs mom, Shannon, said Campbellâs actions are admirable.Â
âThere was a time when we thought that no one cared,â Shannon said. âYou know, hereâs Louisiana going under water and we werenât getting that national media coverage or anything. Hereâs a man, heâs not even from here, and heâs reaching out to try to help our community and to me thatâs awesome.âÂ
McKenzie, 13, has modeled with OBRFW for two years now and will participate for her third time. Mckenzie said this year she is most looking forward to walking in the BARE show, one of five events, and canât wait to strut down the catwalk.Â
âItâs just really fun and takes me to another place, Mckenzie said. âI feel free when Iâm walking down a runway. You let go of all of your worries. Everything in the past doesnât matter. All that matters is that moment when youâre walking down the runway.âÂ
Mckenzie and more than 60 models from across the region will be modeling fashion labels by emerging designers at the BIG Night on Saturday, February 18th at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, located at 103 France St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Doors open at 7 pm for mingling, food and a complimentary glass of wine. Advanced ticket prices are $50. A portion of the proceeds from the BIG Night will benefit OBRFW alumni, including other models, like Mckenzie.
