Like. The only Defense Force characters that were meant to be their own people were Magus and Trigger, with Seed Jr/Flora being an outlier.

Anby and S11 were meant to be Biological Constructs to replace naturally born soldiers. Orphie was meant to be Magus. Seed Sr. wasn't allowed to defy orders.

Orphie is literally carrying the dead woman she was meant to be on her back, constantly being surveyed aside from when Magus goes into "Sleep" Mode.

Flora is weird, because she's from Helios, and we know weird, wild stuff was going on there.

Magus, for whatever reason, is left as the Gun. She could get a new body. She could be given one, but she hasn't for whatever reason. Qingyi has been completely rebuilt and had her memories transferred over to a new body, Banyue was manufactured, Seed Sr. Was manufactured, the Training Sweeper in Lost Void gains sapience and wants revenge for being wailed on.

Magus could DEFINITELY have her own body.

Trigger is the only one here fully of her own accord. No one held her to this, she had even left the Defense Force at some point, only joining against after her Agent Story, which occurred a good while before the story takes place.
