ShREasor Niff (Ruby, basic types mnemonic)
The way to remember the basic types in Ruby is with the mnemonic, “Shreasor Niff.” It’s supposed to sound like a dinosaur name, but softer than Tyrannosaurus Rex. The basics may look intimidating at first, but they’re not really a beast to handle. The parts of the mnemonic are as follows. ShREasor Niff String Hash RegExp Array Symbol Object Range & Numeric: (Intiger, Fixnum, and Float) Note that RegExp is a single type, and Niff is it’s own thing. Numeric is it’s own type with three common subtypes, Intiger, Fixnum, and Float. This should help you mentally organize these concepts from a top-down view, even if you don't know the details about what each one means yet.
