Obidos is an old town🏛️ that changed owners several times in the tides of history. The earliest settlements were around Roman times; archeological surveys determined the remains of a forum🏟️, baths⛲ and other Roman structures near the settlement. After the fall of Rome, the region came under the influence of the Visigoths in the 5th century AD, but development picked up mostly with the arrival of the Moors, who started to fortify the hill and building walls.
