I'm 28, female, ace, with chronic anxiety and slight gender dysphoria (I'd really just prefer not to have any genitalia at all). My nurse-practitioner wants me to go to a gyne for the first time because my menstrual cramps have been out of control since my bunny passed away. But I googled what happens during a pelvic exam and I'm absolutely terrified and repulsed. I'd feel better about it if I knew the doctor were trans or ace, but I'm sick of straight doctors dismissing my anxieties.
i’m confused as to why a doctor’s sexuality would have anything to do with your medical exam. regardless, if your pcp is suggesting tht you go see this specialist, then you rly should. it’s awful, i know well, but it could provide you with some relief. plus, all vagina-havers should get checked out by an obgyn to protect themselves from things like cancer.
my suggestion is to seek out trans-affirming doctors. look up resources in your area for trans ppl. you will find rec’s for doctors who are better equipped to deal with your dysphoria. if you have trouble doing this, let me know where you are and i can help you out. i rly hope you’ll get the medical attention tht you deserve turtledove. wishing you the best of luck in whatever you do.
Watching Skins (UK), wishing I had a romantic partner, remembering I have an OBGYN appointment in a couple days. There is a lot going through my head. I've been so focused yet all over the place today.
