Hello. I was wanting to run another Fairy Adventures game, and was wondering if you had any recommendations for background music to play during the game that would fit the tone of Costume fairy adventures (preferably instrumental music.) Thank you :D
(This is Dave answering in my capacity as a gamer, not the Voice of Penguin King Games, so forgive the first-person pronouns!)
I’m a huge dweeb, so my Costume Fairy Adventures playlist has a lot of Romantic-era pieces in it. A few notable entries:
The “Infernal Gallop” from Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers, better known simply as “the can-can”
Julius Fucik’s “Entry of the Gladiators”, which literally everyone knows the first movement of, though few know the name
The final movement of Rossini’s William Tell Overture, though you might have issues if your players are old enough that they recognise it as the title theme from The Lone Ranger
Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” is a good one for chase scenes and other action bits
If you’re sensing a theme, it’s quite deliberate; the old Merrie Melodies short films were a big influence on Costume Fairy Adventures, so basically any piece you’d expect to hear in a Bugs Bunny cartoon is fair game.
Moving away from Romantic-era stuff, it really depends on what tone you’re shooting for in your game, especially if you’re not doing the Looney Tunes thing. For my part, if I’m angling for a more slapstick anime vibe, I usually go with obscure early 2000s JRPG soundtracks; there’ve typically got a lot of energetic and very characterful pieces you can lift for your own purposes. It does require some curation - if you just play one straight through you’re liable to get a bunch of boss themes in a row, or a downbeat piece in a scene that’s supposed to be cheerful, or whatever - but it’s worth the effort.
Some of my personal favourite soundtracks for this purpose are from the Atelier Iris series:
Atelier Iris OST
Atelier Iris 2 OST
Atelier Iris 3 OST
The town/workshop themes usually work as good general mood-setters (example 1, example 2), and you’ve got a good selection of exploitable character pieces, too; imagine queuing this up when you introduce a certain NPC, for example - or this one when the mischief kicks into high gear!

For Aha (Esk Ask Meme)
"How would your Esk describe their boundary?"
Aha points a dark nose upward into the canopy of a western juniper where pinyon jays jump to and fro. They laugh together with stomachs full of nuts and berries.
Beyond the juniper is a sea of antelope bitterbrush and big sagebrush with large outcroppings of black basalt. Somewhere in its cool labyrinth of crevices, pica gather a bounty of fresh plants to eat.
They look down, and at their feet is a pile of woodshavings from the busy carpenter ants' tireless work where sisters take care of sisters and mothers.
Hey. Thank you for answering my last ask. I have a question about tomb of follies - it says it uses the levels plug in, so does that mean that the levels go into a big pool like the magic does, or does everyone gain experience individually?
Tomb of Follies is intended to use the “Level Up!” plugin as written - i.e., levels are gained based on the party’s overall Mischief Mote total. You’d have a lot of trouble with the later Encounters if you divided up the Motes individually!

Re: Costume Fairy Adventures, when the GM rolls a 6 do they still get 1 troube dice the same as on player rolls, just without anyone getting any magic?
Nope - only dice rolled for player character fairies automatically generate Trouble when sixes come up. Sixes rolled by the GM for NPCs and Locations don’t generate Trouble automatically, though some NPCs have Powers that grow the Trouble Pool in other ways.

🍸 for Thuja, or anyone else you want to do this for.
“What drink reminds you of your Esks/if you were to design a drink based on your Esk what would it be?”
This is SO incredibly boring but straight up freshie woter for Thuja! Nothing better on a warm day exploring the dunes.

For Chica (Esk Ask meme!)
📱 “What is your Esks opinion on technology?”
She gives you an intense stare. "Very STRONG and (somewhat) MIXED FEELINGS that lean towards UNFAVORABLE."
