Dear past me,

You’re going to be scared, and that’s okay. It’s scary. But the rewards? The rewards will be beyond anything you could have ever imagined. I promise. New people, new places, new lives to save and be saved by. 

You’ll think it will last forever. It won’t, but that’s not your fault. It will take you a very long time to realize that it isn’t your fault, but you’ve gotta try. You gotta keep moving forward. You’ll never forget him, and there will be someone new once you’ve recovered from the shock. It’s going to be so hard, and I’m so sorry.

Dear past me, 

Please don’t change a thing. Future you loves where she is at now. Loves it. There are still hard days. There are still days when sleeping is more important than helping. Sometimes you need to help yourself more than others.

Be veeery careful! I always take all of my bulk off of the feet with a #10 reverse, if the nails are really long - DO THEM LAST! Long nails are a super handy guide! Once that's done I'll take my #40 and clean them up top and bottom.

No need to tell me the difference, I know full well! Proper corded and cared for poodles are AWESOME! It was actually one of the first ways poodles were kept hundreds of years ago, and poodles themselves were the reason dog grooming became a thing. There's a lot of history behind corded poodles and it's always a fun treat to see one.

I've seen one poodle in person with cords in her topknot, she was a blue poodle, super sweet, and looked cool as hell! I've considered cording my own dogs, but not sure I could do the 'between' phase where they look like a hot mess.

Nowadays, where we keep our pets indoors and not in the yard where a smelly dog like the old style cords would be, the cords are a lot more maintenance than a brushed coat. They need to be cleaned thoroughly, most people do a vinegar soak, and dried completely to keep the skin from getting irritated from the sitting moisture.
