Kleine Reparatur an den Zylinderhähnen (English Text below)
Großer Dank an das großartige Team im Frankfurter Feldbahnmuseum. Trotz schlechten Wetters wurde ein tolles Programm geboten. Neben den Kenntnissen im Umgang mit Dampflokomotiven ist natürlich auch technisches Wissen und handwerkliches Geschick gefragt. Hier war bei der Lok 13, einer Mallet-Gelenklokomotive von 1909 einer der Zylinderhähne des vorderen Zylinders verstopft. Die Zylinderhähne dienen u.a. zum entwässern der Zylinder. Da sich Wasser im Gegensatz zum Dampf nicht komprimieren lässt, kann Kondenswasser im Zylinder zu Schäden führen. Deswegen werden vor der dem Abfahren immer die Zylinderhähne geöffnet um Kondenswasser vollständig aus dem Zylinder zu entfernen. Dabei kommt natürlich auch jede Menge Dampf mit, was natürlich auch sehr schön aussieht. Nach der kleinen Reparatur noch eine kleine Testfahrt, und kurze Zeit später ging es dann mit einem kompletten Zug auf Fahrt.

Many thanks to the great team at the Frankfurt Feldbahnmuseum. Despite bad weather a great program was offered.
In addition to knowledge of how to handle steam locomotives, technical knowledge and craftsmanship are also required. Here one of the cylinder cocks of the front cylinder of locomotive 13, a Mallet articulated locomotive from 1909, was blocked. The cylinder cocks are used, to drain the cylinders. Since water, unlike steam, cannot be compressed, condensation in the cylinder can cause damage. For this reason the cylinder taps are always opened before the start to completely remove condensation water from the cylinder. Of course, there is also a lot of steam, which of course looks very nice. After the small repair still another small test drive, and short time later it went then with a complete train on journey.
