It was just another Sunday afternoon, in which Nathaniel walked around the city, uncertain of where he was headed, but simply walking on, until he found anything of his interest. An old friend, a nice looking cafe, just something that would distract him for a few hours. Actually, he was supposed to be meeting up with a friend, but something came up. Walking alone wasn’t that bad, in the male’s opinion; instead, it was something he enjoyed doing rather much.

   His birthday was coming, it was just the next day, so he was a little anxious about it, since it was his first time celebrating in years, ever since he got separated from his younger brother. He was too busy with his thoughts to realize the person walking in front of him had suddenly stopped and accidentally, they bumped into each other. But as soon as the feminine figure turned to him, a smile took over his face, her words sudden and unexpected.

 ❝I have my days.”

If there’s something she doesn’t like about herself, it’s her habit of spilling stuffs she’s thinking too easily. Seulgi has just made her way out from the pet shop not far from where she’s standing when she bumped into a young man who looks around her age. She blames it on her leader who suddenly called, asking her to get some groceries because their dorm is out of stuffs.

She was about to apologize to the man she bumped into, but just like any other normal teenage girl in the movie she was too mesmerized by how handsome the other’s look and accidentally blurted it out. Though once she realizes what she just said, her cheeks turn into a light shade of pink as she quickly bows her head to the other. 

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to sound like a creepy stranger or something. But you are indeed one of the most handsome guy I’ve ever seen.”

    For someone like Jae, hearing those words were somehow difficult to fully understand, at least not exactly in the same way of a common human. He, who can see the intangible world, who can call them and have them under his service, who has never been truly alone in his life. Yet at the same time, the descendant of Seimei, being also technically human could understand the meaning of it. 

He stared at the other male for a moment, collecting his thoughts before speaking in order to do his best to convey his own ideas. ❝Are we really? I mean, we are bodies with soul, with spirit. And around us, there is always something else, the wind, the sound of the living beings on earth, all of that contains life, contains spirit. We are simply limited by the mortal eyes to see them.❞ He spoke calmly, he didn’t want to be explicit about the fact he could always see spirits, guardians, demons, and all those things that were part of him, as he didn’t want to freak out the stranger. 

“I’ve never lied to you, not even once!” Sheprotests, but, as soon as the words pass her lips, she wishes she could takethem back, wishes she would have lied to him instead, because what she’sactually done is much worse. She’s never given him facts, truths to cling on,instead, feeding him bits and pieces of her story, enough for him to drawplausible conclusions that she never denied nor confirmed. It was all veryvague, and he’s more than once joked that she makes herself sound just as mysteriousas a heroine from a story with swords and magic and dragons.

She finds it funny that hedoesn’t notice the bitterness in her laughter when she forces it out, that hedoesn’t notice it’s fakeness: but in one sentence, he’s pinned down more truthsabout her than he’s ever been told.

Even now, she almost smilesat the memory. Almost. There is a look in his eyes that freezes the warmthright off her lips and makes her jaw tighten in a way that could have beendefiant if it weren’t just so… desperate. She’d expected to feel relieved onceshe told him the truth about her. Now she wonders how could she have been sodumb.
