Mixedmedia - Amazing This card is made from the paper napkins that I used to absorb the extra paints. I collected them and pasted on a piece of paper. I had a bunch backgrounds like this made in a drawing pad a long time ago.. My version of handmade paper pads 😂😂😂 saves my time of having to do it each time.. Everytime I want something I just had tear a piece off, until all of it started coming off.. Alright I'm digressing. Coming back to the card, where was I.. Oh yeah... So I cut that into B5 size, rounded the corners, sometimes I'll edge the sides or do touch up but most cases I can use it as it is, like in this case. I had the lace die cut in my stash. Believe me it was scrap as I was testing it with my #nuvomousse black and it was horrible for that project, so I used it here. I also had another circle die-cut with a dark purplish blueish paper which I embossed in the past. It fitted well, so sticked them up. Next embellishment, oooo my paper bouquets I made during my holidays would be perfect I thought, n guess what it was.. I just added another 2 buttons for texture and visual effect. What else, it was missing a butterfly and sentiment. My favorite collection of butterflies are always from @rosiesstudio #rosiesstudio Splendid collection and sentiment was Holo Glitter foam. I layered it on top of a upcycled translucent purple ribbon.. Mixedmedia recycled 3D embellishment Fancy making rocks?? Well here is a easy way. Used muffin cups, coat the top with paper mache a few layers, for firmness an easy painting. Use all your scrap pieces..the small pieces works wonders or you can go for newspaper. Once dried, you still can reshape it.. Of you prefer brownish, go for the brown tones..once dried coat it with dried moss.. Done.. There you go.. Mixedmedia Tags - She dreamed beautiful things, she was herself again. It's a very busy piece with a number of things in here. @imadeyouacar this is my version of the dream. Do watch my Youtube video on how I made the actual tag using upcycle items. https://youtu.be/jCWDGU_DoD8 The colours I used for this background was #dylusionsprays melted chocolate, pure sunshine, cut grass and fresh lime. I layered the tag with a wet gauze and a mesh ribbon. It soaked the colour from the background. I had the metal flowers and the corner frame in my stash, the flowers are made from 2different pieces which I assembled. I used #primamarketing #finnabair Brass paste and rubbed #tonicstudios #nuvomousse Mother of pearl on all of the metal pieces. The pearl string is part of a broken jewellery. I found a very old drop beads and added into the center of the flower. I added brown polyfoam and added #americancraft WOW glitter flakes Aqua which gave the bling. When nothing is sure, everything is possible (I absolutely love the sentiment 😁) Another mixedmedia project done with old calendar board. I did the background last year but never completed it until last week. Materials - all upcycled 1. Old calendar board 2. Mesh foam used for fruits 3. Pistachio shells 4. Mussel shells (from all the seafood pasta I had) 😆😆😆 5. Gauze 6. Red and blue beads 7. pearls This are from stash 1. Flat pearls 2. Starfish I used my homemade texture paste and some cheap stencils I found. I pasted a small portion of aluminium can, which had small cut outs of flowers, to give that random design. I then #gesso the background. In the middle I pasted the pistachio shells and covered it with gauze. To make it look like barnacles. Pasted the mesh foam which looks like torn fish net. I used @primamarketinginc #primamarketing #finnabair #artalchemy metallic acrylic paint Dark Forest, Crocus Fields, midnight sky and Coral Reef. Pasted the mussel shells. The shells where not as shiny as it should be. So I had my #nuvomousse Mother of Pearl rubbed on it. Also I rubbed a little on the journal. Added some starfish and painted it with coral reef. Embellished with peals and beads. I wanted to add a mermaid in the middle but couldn't find anything that fits. 16th Jan - There is no Greater Love than ours My final 8th piece in this series. Since it's plastic, I covered it dried tea bags. I then applied #rangerink opaque Crackle paste. I left it to dry overnight. Used a black gesso. Once dried, brushed it with #nuvomousse Pure Platinum and Mother of Pearl. The heart is ctually a lace heart. The rose, heart and the bead is plastic and was part of an old key chain. I stringed it inside the lace. I painted it with black gesso and stiffened it with matte medium gel. Tinted nuvo mousse Mother of pearl, followed by English Heather. And then I did one crazy step, I heat embossed it with ranger clear #embossingpowder. It gave the natural glossy accent to it. I then attached it to the lid using soft gel medium. And attached the lid to the card using the heavy gel, The background is made from an aluminum can. Yes, you heard me right . I used #Sizzix 3d-dembossingfolder alterations foundry and carefully embossed it using my sizzixbigshot. I painted with black gesso. Again using nuvo mousse I brushed the surface with Pure Platinum and also English Heather to give a little brightness. I had this prestamped, embossed sentiment in my stash and decided to go with it. Since I used the foundry background, I added some gears which had the same colours as the background. The final touch was the punchinella. I cut a few pieces and attached them with matte medium. 25th Jan - You are the key to my heart My 7th piece Since it's plastic, I covered it with used dried tea bags. It gave a nice texture and painted with #gesso. I painted it with #dylusionpaint after Midnight. Then applied soft gel medium and poured fine sand on it. Found a small bag in the pet store. It gave additional texture and then painted it with #primamarketing Brass and applied #nuvomousse English Heather. The heart is an old metal buckle given by someone. It has rivets on them, like holes for gemstones. I covered it with pink and purple rhinestones. It took me 2 hours to stick the stones. I then sticked the heart to the lid using heavy gel medium. That buckle is a little heavy. To lift it up, I used my pink hempstring and went around it. I found this cute winged Tibetan charm pendant and used the Prima brass paint and nuvomousse English Heather on it. I Just hand rubbed it. I added some colourless sequince. (under the camera lights, OT gives some strange colours. My mom gave me some of her old laces, she sews. The ones thats too short or she doesn't want them, she gives them to me. I used that piece, just enough length for this, sticked it on the background using soft gel and then adhered my lid. . The background was an old piece which already had texture paste on them. I gesso the background and and painted it with dylusionspaint Peony Blush and a little London blue I while it's wet so it became purplish. Then tinted with silver paint. Added the same sequince to the background. 16th Jan - All you need is love 2nd piece of Haagen daaz plastic recycled. Again, thanks to Marta @maremis_small_art on her YouTube video which I gave my own twist. Same technique. Covered it with used dried tea bags. It gave a nice texture and painted with Gesso. Than I painted it with Dylusionspaint Periwinkle Blue and tinted with Primamarketing Patina paste Brass. The background of the card was a leftover from last year stash. It is made from Gallery Artists' Fine Oil Pastels Metallic. I used a few combinations, purple, pink, blue and teal . I edged the sides with the same. I blended them with my fingers. Smart me forgot that she has the blending pencils. 😂. I added a doily and used my beautiful #tatteredlacedies which was given to me by Patricia @triciacards. They are gorgeous.and painted them with the same brass paste. The heart is a metal piece from the fairy lights from my parents place. It fell, so smart me instead of fixing it, I took it for my craft work 😂... Psst.. Mom doesn't know yet. I painted it with the same brass paste. It was too bronzy to my liking, so took a little #nuvomousse English Heather, to give it the pinkish purplish feel to the pieces and it matched the background.
