These sticky toffee squares are a delightful treat, perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings. Packed with the rich flavor of dates and a hint of nuttiness, they're sure to be a hit with friends and family.
Ingredients: 200g dates, pitted and chopped. 150ml boiling water. 1 tsp baking soda. 75g unsalted butter. 100g brown sugar. 2 eggs. 150g all-purpose flour. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. 100g chopped walnuts or pecans optional.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 350F 182C and grease a baking dish. Put chopped dates and baking soda in a bowl. Boil water should be added to the bowl. Wait five minutes. In a different bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until they are fluffy and light. One egg at a time, beat it in. The flour and vanilla extract should be mixed in well. Finally, add the nuts if using and mix them in. Spread the batter out evenly in the baking dish that has been prepared. Put it in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean. Let it cool in the dish for a while before cutting it into squares. Serve and have fun!
