The house is likely to have been built around 1420. It’s a timbered construction, also called of Tudor style. In the early 16th century it was owned by the merchant and astronomer Bernard Watlher, explaining the numerous roof windows by the use of the place as an observatory. Albrecht Dürer acquired it in 1509. During the 19th century, the house was turned in a museum and Friedrich Wilhelm Wanderer was ordered to design two of its chambers based on Dürer’s prints. Sources I II III The room is known to be a personnal interpretation of “old german cosiness” by W. Wanderer (throught both panelling and furnitures) but whatever it has been faithfully done or not it does bring the feeling of being welcome and invites to take a seat (if only it was allowed). It reminded me a bit the panneling in Leicester Guildhall.
