Hi! Recently thexenophon and myself came up with the term "nullstate" or "nullromantic" to describe people whose mental illness/disability (like a pd or autism) cancels out their ability to perceive/have romantic attraction/emotions (instead of just being plain aro.) "Null" means nothing or to cancel out so we thought it was fitting. Is this maybe a term people could get behind?
This sounds pretty similar to "Arovague", but I think it could potentially be useful. However, I'm a bit wary of making distinctions for orientations just for people with mental illness, as I can see it easily being a way to exclude others (for example: if someone has a PD and identifies as aromantic, I can easily see them getting shouted down and told "you can't be aromantic, you have to be nullromantic!"). For me, I see this as one type of aromantic experience, and I don't like the idea of making a distinction between "aromantics who are neurotypical" and "aromantics who are neuroatypical" in any way.
That's just me, though. If people find resonance with this word, "arovague" or similar words, then by all means use it.
