They’ve all been here for five hours now, Nick’s worn approximately nine hundred and fifty seven outfits, he’s had to watch Harry scoot about being professional and competent for all of that time and he is one touch away from a raging fucking hard-on and he needs everyone to leave, really soon.

“We could always fall in love,” Louis mumbles timidly, picking at his pajama pants.  He squeezes his eyes shut as soon as the words leave his mouth.

 “Yeah,” Nick answers quietly, which is not at all what Louis expected.  He opens his eyes again, stunned.  Nick just smiles ruefully and offers him a shrug.  “I don’t think there’s much else we can do.”

So, this is a bit late, but I thought I’d do a recap of all the fic I wrote this year. It’s not that much, but I’m proud of it all the same. I did a bunch of other shit this year, like study in Spain and graduate college, so I was a bit busy with outside activities and less focused on writing. Still, I came up with a rather eclectic collection of fics for what I actually turned out.

3/14 - the words you spoke - haylor - 15,273 words

Taylor writes an album about Harry; Harry gets to listen.

Basically, I just wanted an exploration of how Harry would react to listening to 1989 for the first time, and how Taylor would react to Harry reacting. But no one wrote it (hardly anyone even writes Haylor) so I wrote it my damn self.

5/20 - I’m so much older than I can take - horshaw - 31,547 words

Nick and Niall figure out they like each other, get together, have a good amount of sex, Nick freaks out, and someone has to get their shit together and bring everything back to good in the end.

I wrote this before anyone ever wrote about Nick and Niall together. I mean no one still writes about them together, but more than before. I wrote it over a year for some god damn reason. It took me so long, but I had a lot of stuff to get over (my own busy life, my lack of knowledge about Nick, general fic-writing difficulties). But! I was very pleased with the end result, I think it’s one of my funnier fics, and there’s a good amount of people who begrudgingly read it and even more begrudgingly liked it, which is my favorite fic reaction.

6/23 - giving me such sweet nothing - narry - 3,509 words

Harry and Niall keep on hooking up and breaking apart, not focusing on anything because neither of them are capable of settling down. They both want more, but they’re also both deaf to how the other feels. So heaps and bunches of dumb boy feelings, topped off with an ambiguous ending. My favorite.

There were two things I wanted to accomplish with this fic. 1.) A fic where both people want the same thing but are missing signals. 2.) A fic with a completely unsatisfying ending, that’s neither positive or negative. It just.... ends.

I think I accomplished that. No I will not write a second part.

9/26 - no remedy for memory - nulian - 36,170 words

Niall falls apart after Zayn leaves, doesn’t let anyone know, and crawls into bed with Julian.

This was an exchange fic after I basically said “I’ll write anything”. That’s when you get the first Nulian fic ever. They were really a joy to write, though, and I making me own headcanons for Niall’s reactions (when he can be such a stoic and guarded motherfucker) was challenging yet fun. I hope Niall didn’t go through even a quarter of the shit I made him go through. Also, chapters! I love working with chapters! Everyone use more chapters!

Final word count: 86,499. Not bad for my off year!
