Wally has in front of him what is one of the most perfect cakes Sally Williams has ever made.
Little lemon slices encircled the top and bottom, while yellow and icing danced across what was a delicious red velvet inside. It’s only right ; he’s one of the most perfect friends she could have ever hoped for, even wished for - but it was impossible to even wish for a better friend. Having stayed by her side these many months, he deserved it. Wally deserved much more than a cake.
A kiss filled to the brim with warmth touched the corner of his forehead, as little Jayden Catherine gently placed an oddly shaped package onto his hand - of which inside its wrappings would be a small sd card with hundreds of photographs inside. Photographs of his first year as Kid Flash.
”Happy Birthday, Wally.
Now make a wish!”
It was a smile that could be seen for miles. He could’ve been his own candle, practically, because he could feel himself glowing — it’s a wonder his hair hadn’t caught the curtains on fire already.
Attention snagged by the small gift pressed into his palm, his appreciative gaze finally peeled away from the cake (Sally had truly outdone herself this year), settling on little Jay instead. He gave her a toothy, goofy sort of grin, scooping his niece up onto his lap before she could slink back to her mom’s side. She’d get the first tidal wave of affection; a barrage of friendly kisses and super duper tight hugs — the squeal of laughter that followed is probably one of his favorite birthday presents.
Not too keen on leaving one of his favorite people out of the picture perfect moment, Wally reaches up as much as he can with the arm closest to Sally, pulling her down for the best one-armed hug he could manage. When Jayden bounced up and hugged them both close, Wally just knew.
“Don’t need to make a wish, Snickers. Everything’s absolutely perfect.”
Still is.
