Aka : It Isn't Just a Man's Game! One of 2016 @nuartfestival participating artists and a good friend of Nuart, Argentinian @h_y_u_r_o is the first artist we announce today. Argentinian born street and urban artist best known for her powerful compositions that blend socio-politics with a distinctly surrealist sensibility, Hyuro has carved out a reputation for addressing prevalent social and political issues in her work. The characters she depicts are often those suffering under predominantly patriarchal and capitalistic systems. By submitting reflections on both individual and collective identities, and questioning the conditions of freedom as the fundamental and inalienable rights of the person, Hyuro has become one of the most influential female artists working in public space. Originally working on canvas, Hyuro took to the streets after striking up a friendship with Spanish street artist Escif. However, she continues to produce watercolour paintings and drawings regularly and has presented solo exhibitions at galleries worldwide. Renowned the world over for it’s annual Street Art Festival Nuart, the city recently commissioned the world’s first curated series of Street Art Buses. The first 8 buses, curated by Nuart, include works from national and internationally renowned artists @ernestzacharevic (Lithuania), Add Fuel (Portugal), @martinwhatson (Norway) and Norway’s leading female street artist @hamawoods. The regional bus company Kolumbus, which commissioned the works, has committed to a three year plan and will be introducing new buses and artists over the next three years. #addfuel #nuart2016 #kolumbus
