Teotihuacan. The last couple games Iāve been in, when we started using the random setup, Iāve just gotten absolutely clobbered. I finally got a bit back in the zone today, and came in an extremely close second in a crazy high scoring game (the winner had ~190 points). We had a new player, so we didnāt use anything from the expansion; when explaining how to play again I was reminded just how daunting this sucker seems when youāre teaching rules. But itās actually not that bad, and once you get into the groove I think the actual play might be a bit smoother than Tāzolkin. Itās funny, while itās a totally different game, it actually feels a lot like Merchant of Venus - itās all about finding the rhythms of the board layout - given the available technologies and the ordering and and spacing of the actions, what kind of repeating patterns you can activate. Still enjoying this; it seems to hit a nice spot in terms of complexity and pacing even though it would not be described as elegant in any way. Like Tāzolkin, I think itās a game thatāll stick around for a while even though itās not exactly in my usual sweet spot. There is apparently another small expansion due soonish; I think Iāll be able to resist that, though. Plenty of stuff between the base game and the current expansion. #bgg #boardgamegeek #boardgames #nskngames https://www.instagram.com/p/B7vDtLkBSRF/?igshid=1hx2yvaz8eavk
