oh yeah i promised a snippet of when the npwd gang meets irl if i made it past round one of @tmntseparatedaucompetition sooooo here (i've had this written for over a month i cannot stop thinking about it. the whole scene is so funny)
“Dad!” Mikey says, waving her father (who somehow looks both exactly like and nothing like how Leo would’ve expected) over to them. “These are my friends I told you about! They’re mutants too, can you believe it?”
The man looks up from his phone, his eyes landing on the four of them and widening in surprise.
And then all hell breaks loose.
“MICHELANGELO,” begins the man, and Leo winces. He’s heard more than enough lectures from his own dads to know what that tone means. “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOU FOUND YOUR BROTHERS?!”
There’s dead silence for a second. Two. Three.
And then, from Mikey: “MY WHAT-?”
The man pauses, apparently oblivious to the existential crisis Leo’s (and most likely the others) going through now.
“Ah,” he says after a moment, like he didn’t just drop the biggest bombshell of Leo’s life on them out of nowhere. “Right. I may have neglected to tell you about them. Michelangelo, you have brothers. Here they are.”
Everyone starts yelling at once. Out of the corner of his eye, Leo can see Donnie slip on their noise canceling headphones, which he totally wouldn’t blame them for if it weren’t for the fact that Donnie is yelling just as loud as the rest of them.
“But we’re different species –”
“– all this time and you never told me –”
“– and how would that even be possible anyway –”
“– are not my father thank you very much –”
“– then how did we even get separated when –”
“HOT SOUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
it's still so funny to me that i actually ended up calling it new phone who dis. like. that was a joke placeholder name and then i had to submit a poster for the competition and i couldn't think of anything better before the deadline so it was officially written down and unchangeable. it's REALLY good
