Jake was used to teachers threatening to take his scooter away when they saw him riding it through the hallways of McKinley High, but none of them had really rattled them until Coach Sylvester had threatened to melt it and turn the spare parts into torture devices. From what he’d seen, that woman was batshit insane, and he wouldn’t put it past her, so the second he saw her down the hallway, he’d scooted in the other direction at a breakneck speed, veering sharply into what he’d hoped was an empty classroom. Unfortunately, he closed the door behind him only to realize that there was someone else there with him, and before he could mutter a half-assed apology for interrupting, he recognized the face of his half brother. He couldn’t go out into the halls yet, not when Coach Sue was still about, so instead he said gruffly, “Oh, it’s you,” and then let silence hang in the air between him and Puck.
