oikawa is the first one to propose - but iwaizumi said no because he wanted be the one to propose and so these two just goes back and forth proposing to each other till the other one relents.
married iwaoi chooses not to change their last names - Iwaizumi (岩泉/ Rock Fountain/Spring) and Oikawa (及川 / River) is as important as Tooru (徹 / To Go Through) and Hajime ( 一 / Beginning) to them. their last names are part of who they are; they wouldn’t want change anything about it. [this hc’s from twitter but i don’t remember who posted it TT TT, i really liked it.]
iwaoi are based off alexander the great and hephaestion - [link to an analysis about the parallels between them.] alexander the great and the death of hephaestion which humanizes him is so so much like iwaoi. iwaizumi is the one who grounds oikawa; one who reminds oikawa of his humanity.
