And yet another long overdo prompt! (I didn’t realize that this was your prompt when I asked you for a pair, haha.) Hope you enjoy it!

The night is quiet and warm, with just enough of a breeze to ruffle Noya’s ungelled hair as he lays out the little blanket that they’ll be sitting on for the next few hours. Tobio glances around, can see the rest of the team spread out in little groups and pairs, hardly close enough to hear each other over the space.

To their right Tobio sees Suga tackle Daichi onto their own blanket, Asahi squished beneath them both with a grin on his face when Suga throws his arms around them. The rest of the first years are huddled on one blanket together, Yachi cuddled in the middle of them all. There’s a laugh to his side, and he looks back over to Noya’s happy face pointed in the direction of Tanaka and Ennoshita fighting to flatten out a particularly tangled sheet some feet away.

At this point, Tobio thought that he’d never be able to leave this pile of blankets. He felt just as bad as he had two days ago, if not worse, and it didn’t seem likely that he’d be getting better any time soon. He’d probably never be able to breathe out of his nose again, and all his limbs trembled with such force that he might not ever be able to set a volleyball accurately. He whined into the fluffy pillow under his face, and curled a little tighter into a ball at the thought.

The sound of the door opening echoed a bit in Tobio’s head, like it was bouncing off cotton covered walls, and he whined a little louder. A very soft laugh was his only response, and then there was warmth on his face and a hand helping him to sit up. Finally upright he took a cup in his hands, and Noya stepped back and shook a few snowflakes out of his hair as he smiled at Tobio. It was broth, warm and soothing, and Tobio could almost smell it, and it was undoubtedly the best thing he’s had in days.

This sort of turned into mind-reader Noya and mutual pining? idk man, I wanna write more about this, but it’s late. Maybe someday it’ll get a full fic.

Whoeverhad decided that Daichi and Asahi’swedding was a formal affair would have to answer to Yuu. He hatedsuits. He hated wearing them, he hated how he had to behave in them,he hated everything about them. He had not stopped grumbling since hehad put the damn thing on that afternoon, and there was little chanceof that changing.

“It’snot so bad,” Tanaka tried to comfort him. “You look hot as fuck,anyway.”

“Thanks,Ryuu,” Yuu muttered. Tanaka grinned and slapped him on the shoulderbefore trotting off to pester Ennoshita. Yuu watched him for amoment, trying to soak up his happiness, before he caught sight ofhis least favorite part about suits.

KageyamaTobio looked amazing in them. He was standing by the punch bowl, hisshoulders set in an awkward line and his expression constipated andhis thoughts a mess of white noise, and he had never looked moreincredible. Yuu sighed and let his head hit the wall behind him. Likeclockwork, that was the exact moment he felt Kageyama’sattention turn to him.

Youokay?He asked Yuu silently, the words a bit fuzzy over the noise of thecrowd. Yuu nodded without opening his eyes, and then snorted at thestream of disbelief he got in return. Eventually, Kageyama gave upand started fiddling with his cuffs, dissatisfaction radiating off ofhim. Yuu opened his eyes, trying to focus enough to get a moreprecise thought from him. Kageyama frowned and tugged on his collarand suddenly the feeling made sense.

“Whatthe fuck?” Yuu said aloud, startling Daichi’s grandmother a fewfeet away. Yuu ignored her and stormed across the room to get up inKageyama’s face. “What do you meanyou’renot attractive?” he hissed. Kageyama startled, then looked away,his cheeks going pink.

“Ididn’t mean for you to hear that,” he muttered. Yuu bit his lip.

“Sorry,”he said. “I shouldn’t have been listening. But still, what thefuck?” Kageyama shrugged, tucking his hands awkwardly into hispockets.

“It’strue,” he said. “I’m pretty average looking normally, but inthis, I just don’t…” He fed a series of thoughts to Yuu, toonebulous to put into words, but the overall feeling was a sense ofstupidity in front of someone he wanted to impress. Yuu tried not toget disappointed at that bit, but rather focused on what Kageyama wastrying to tell him.

“Dude,I can assure you, you’ve got nothing to worry about there,” hesaid. With a sigh, he turned away from Kageyama and leaned againstthe wall next to him, looking out over the party. “Besides Suga,you’re probably the prettiest dude here.” Kageyama’s thoughtsturned even more hectic, and Yuu tried to tune them out. He had aboutas much success as he would’ve expected, what with how his wholebeing was fixated on Kageyama. “Sorry,” he muttered. “I crosseda line, didn’t I?”

“No,”Kageyama sighed. “I just hate that you’re the one that sees melike this.” He glanced at Yuu and then away. Ialways look so dumb around you,he thought.

“Nah,you don’t,” Yuu replied. “You should see the shit that goes onin Ryuu’s head. Or Tsukishima’s, I never met a bigger nerd thanhim.” Kageyama didn’t seem cheered by this. Yuu sighed and pattedhim on the arm. “Look, whoever you’re trying to impress, I’msure they are,” he said. Kageyama flushed, but the mental wall thathe and the rest of the team had practiced over the years slid intoplace. Yuu took it as his signal to leave the subject alone, and withone last grin for Kageyama, wandered off in search of someone else totalk to.

As soon as I noticed kagenoya in one of the requests, I knew I had to do it! I’d never really thought much of that ship but it sounds exactly like my jam.
