đđđđđđđđ:  hogwarts castle  !
it didnât feel like memorial weekend, and ginny had been through enough of them to have certain expectations. it wasnât a case of it feeling any better than usual - the combined grief was still as suffocating as it ever was, and no quidditch game or guest quarter novelty could make THAT any easier to navigate. she had signed some brooms for the deflated and victorious teams, tittered with her weekend roommates over some innane gossip they were unpacking more thoughtfully than their bags and recited her part of the remembrance speech over and over, in her mind, until she had it perfect. she had even made the trek down to the stone memorial all on her own, just to see fredâs name before the sun had set & evening feast began. she had done all the things she was meant to, and the normality of these awful, typical things should have done something, but she just couldnât shake the unnamed feeling that had settled in her bones and promised to stay.Â
there was nothing for it, really. once the friday feast concluded, ginny was one of the first to rise & head upstairs, not to sleep, but to grab her heavy coat. she didnât shrug it on until she was heading down the carved stone steps of the entrance hall, past the students and the weekend guests who were heading the other direction. the large doors were open wide to the freedom of the expansive lawns & cool night air and ginny, for all her desperation to just get out of the castle, gave enough pause before them to draw a companion. âi was thinking of getting a drink at the three broomsticks,â her confidence wanes. it didnât matter how long it had been since she graduated - she would always feel a student within these walls. she almost puts word to the foolish ponder of whether sheâs allowed, and instead manages, with renewed hope, âwould you like to come?âÂ

â  ANOTHER YEAR HAS PASSED, but the knife of loss is still as keenly painful as it was seven years ago, when the battle of hogwarts was fought bravely by so many who never got to see the future that we are all so lucky to be living, now. as always, we honor our lost friends, our missed family, our dearly departed loved ones and the fearless strangers without who we could not have won the war against he-who-must-not-be-named. in these uncertain times, it is important to remember that once before, we rose up against the darkness - and in the end, we triumphed. it is important to remember that we can do it again, and that doing so is the ultimate gift that we can give to those who have already gone on.   â
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE :Â Â
the seventh memorial for the battle of hogwarts ( fought bravely on may 2nd, 2014 ) is held every year on the hogwarts school grounds, and is one of the most carefully pulled together events of the year. the most important thing to those organising has always been to remain respectful to those lost, and anyone taking advantage of the occasion is appropriately shamed by the community at large.
those who fought in the battle receive their ivory invite like clockwork, while the same is sent to the friends, family and loved ones of those lost. this year, the rememembrance ceremony is held on castle grounds on the morning of the 1st, where public figures & the members of dumbledoreâs army who killed lord voldemort - and this year, must live with the fact they also saw him rise again - give well written speeches & say a few words in memory of their departed. a feast follows inside the castle, tables abandoned in favor of rickety tables & chairs conjured in place, mingling enouraged underneath the black candles that hang in the air. it usually continues late into the night, though the numbers dwindle substantially as the night goes on - hogsmeade is a welcome distraction, and many gather at one of the bars in town & share a round of drinks with strangers.Â
the weekend long event includes a sunday of reflection, as the 2nd of may passes by. guests are welcome to wander the grounds & indulge in quiet time ahead of the goodbye ceremony, a gathering in the courtyard where wands are raised & orbs of light are sent high into the sky, like muggle fire lanterns.Â
while most attending usually choose to board at one of the nearby villages or simply travel for each day, the start of this month heralded the end of the ministry implemented curfew that followed sybill trelawneyâs tragic death, and the wixen community at large is still rather cowed. for this reason, professor mcgonagall has opened hogwarts school to guests, and house quarters have been freshly made up, allowing hogwarts alumni to stay somewhere close to their old common room, and ensuring that everyone attending over the weekend will be protected by the enchantments around the school. a hufflepuff vs slytherin quidditch game has been allowed go ahead on the first day, the friday, provided a minute of silence is observed - and anyone arriving is welcome to watch this and explore the school theyâve likely left behind years ago, over the weekend.Â
OUT OF CHARACTER:
i couldnât let the day pass by without something, could i ? the battle of hogwarts memorial is a yearly affair slightly changed by recent events, with everyone encouraged to put aside their desire for five star - or hogsmeade inn - comfort and expected to avail of the offer to stay within hogwarts itself. security has been TRIPLED given the chaos of last years event, when the dark mark appeared over the school during the goodbye ceremony. no one is getting in without an invite, and nothing is going to mar this day, farther.Â
the event will be starting tomorrow (Â may 3rd )Â at 6.00pm gmt : click this sentence to see what that means for your timezone ! the plan is for it to run for two weeks.Â
this event is providing more fodder for setting than anything, and i am not going to call for you to pause old threads or keep things event specifc, in general. most of the most intensive stuff will happen via discord by design, since so many people are currently dealing with exams.Â
most characters would be expected to attend, so i highly encourage everyone to get as involved as they can be across the board. you can tag event starters with nox.event015, and you have the wide range of location choice that comes with an event based at hogwarts & hogsmeade.Â
if you have any questions or concerns, please donât hesitate to message the main ! please like this post once youâve read it.Â
đđđđđđđđ:  hogwarts castle  !
it had been rare for merry to visit hogwarts school in an archivist capacity. their records were kept in the dungeons & far from the ministry reach, and they usually denied any request to peruse them - understandably, given how much the ministry of magic coveted what they had. merry could understand why they loathed to pass on even the most innocuous of files, and the seventh memorial marked only the fourth time that merry had ever set foot within the hogwarts walls. it was a solemn affair, of course, one she was taking so very seriously, but the chance to drink in the architecture & imagine what it wouldâve been like to attend was an added bonus to the weekend.Â
she couldnât imagine it well, though she thought it mightâve involved a lot of getting lost - the corridors had a habit of SHIFTING on her, and she was positive she had been down this one, already. it was impossible to pick out anything that would help lead her to even find her way back the way sheâd come, and a solitary figure turns into only hope of salvation when finally she stumbles upon someone, âpardon. iâm sorry, do you know how iâd get back to the main hall from here? i feel like iâve been wandering around in circles for hours, the castle is...-â not a maze, per se, but with voice dropped to a stage whisper as if it could hear her, merry added- âenjoying my suffering.âÂ
location:Â the trophy room, hogwarts
participants: oliver wood & open
oliver wood had always made a point of visiting the the quidditch cup whenever he was at hogwarts. in fact, the trophy room had been one of the first places his visited. and just has he had anticipated, it had been crowded. he had even had to elbow and excuse his way to the trophy case, that part had been an added bonus.Â
he waited until night to put the second part of his plan into motion. waiting until he was sure most of the castle would be asleep before he carefully departed his accommodations, making sure not to wake any of his roommates. from there heâd slowly and quietly made his way through the castle.
pausing only to pull his hood over his head, oliver crept forward a somewhat sinister smirk appearing on his face as he pulled his wand from his pocket. careful to point it at a spot in the glass without any trophies behind it, he whispered âevanesco,â his other hand already on the wrapped package concealed in his jacket. just as he was reaching to grab ahold of the cup, he heard a footstep.Â
"oh hey,â he greeted them with a smile as he spun on his heels, attempting to shield the trophy case from their view. âi thought i was the only one whoâd visit this place at night,â he chuckled.Â
WHO: Josie & Gabrielle ( @nouvellesluneâ )
WHERE: Hogwarts Grounds
WHEN:Â Seventh Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts
IT WAS EASY TO FORGET, AFTER BEING AWAY FOR SO LONG, JUST HOW BIG THE GROUNDS OF HER FORMER SCHOOL WERE. Sheâd always enjoyed being out on the grounds of Hogwarts â though, admittedly, Josie spent much of her free time as a student holed up in the LIBRARY or in her own dorm room, there were occasions where she would find herself roaming about outdoors, allowing the fresh air to work its own brand of MAGIC and calm whatever thoughts were whirring through her mind on that particular day.Â
Even now, years after sheâd bid Hogwarts goodbye and moved on ( long after the place that had once been a SANCTUARY had turned SOURÂ ), Jo had to admit that the grounds did still seem to have that same CALMING effect, the soft spring air flowing through her air as she strolled around â taking in the sights that had once been ROUTINE, and entirely unremarkable, but were now tinged with both nostalgia and an anxiety that she worked hard to suppress ( theyâre not HEREÂ anymore, she reminds herself, though the voice in her head reminding her that nobody knows WHERE they are is rather unhelpful ).
It is not uncommon for Josephine Diggory to become lost in her own THOUGHTS â sheâd been prone to such lapses in consciousness ever since she was young, becoming lost in DAYDREAMSÂ while the world buzzed on around her. Sheâs only snapped from her thoughts by a familiar head of PINK HAIRÂ â Josieâs heart rate skyrocketing at the sight of GABRIELLE DELACOUR. Her heart had always seemed to do STRANGE THINGS wherever Gabrielle was concerned â but where her elevated pulse would have once been due to EXCITEMENT, it is now indicative of PANIC.
Things between her and Gabrielle hadnât ended with a BANG, but rather a fizzle â Jo isnât sure why Gabrielle started to pull away, but sheâd never had the courage to question it, perhaps to leave their issues UNACKNOWLEDGED, or perhaps simply because she was AFRAID of the answer. Sheâd made a point of avoiding Gabrielle ever since ( as she did all of her ex-anythings ) and, to be frank, sheâs entirely unprepared to see her again NOW. Sheâs too close now to simply turn and walk away â and her mouth is already AGAPE, so pretending not to have seen her is entirely out of the question, the best she can hope to do is muddle through this interaction with a SHRED of her dignity intact.
âUm... hi,â She says, hoping her cheeks arenât quite as flush as they feel, âYouâre, um... youâre here. Thatâs... um, thatâs ââ A pause, uncomfortably long by only a fraction of a second, âYou look nice.â

they canât stand to be in the castle any longer. it had only taken a glance at the memorial, at fredâs name carved there, to send them out - out of the hall, out the doors, out across the lawn. GRIEFGUILTSHAME chokes charlie and they make the mental note to call ojala and schedule a session with her soon ; it had SOMEHOW, IN THE CHAOS OF THE YEAR, slipped charlieâs mind to be sure and see his therapist before the anniversary. teeth sink into the inside of his cheek and charlie looks down at the smooth stone in their hand, a little pile gathered beside them. they scarcely remember doing it. âhey,â it takes charlie by surprise that their voice is so rough and they clear their throat, pull back their arm, and throw the stone. it skips across the surface a handful of times before sinking.
IF YOUâD GOTTEN HERE A LITTLE EARLIER, their mind whispers, IF YOUâD NEVER LEFT AT ALL. they are traitorous little thoughts that sink claws deep into their mind. âneeded some air. iâll be back in in a bit.âÂ
below you will find the recap for everything that took place over the course of the seventh anniversary event & subsequent plot drop, both of which are linked.
there was no reason to panic. these were the empty words offered to those present at the seventh anniversary when headmistress mcgonagall announced that one of the guests, judith strout, had gone missing over the course of the weekend. the healer was nowhere to be found : not at home or at work, not in the hufflepuff guest quarters where her bed was found unmussed & her weekend bag unopened, not at the three broomsticks, where a number of people had headed to take part in madam rosmertaâs pub quiz. concern was understandable, the professors who gathered willing volunteers parroted, but there were a host of plausible explanations. hogwarts can be a maze / grief can mess with your head / anyone can get turned around, after a drink or two. they were going to get to the bottom of it ( and ensure judy was found safe & well ), and the only thing left to do was to send out search parties and find her.
HOGWARTâS CASTLE.
all of the professors and a handful of volunteers were assigned hogwarts castle, with the evening spent going from room to room, floor to floor, searching high & low for any sign of judy. though she had last been seen in the crowd leaving the great hall at the end of the feast, her path through the castle on the night of her disappearance was impossible to determine.
a group comprised of antigone xu, josie diggory, sebastian yang & oliver wood began their search on the ground floor, and moved upwards over the course of the evening. it was a slow process for them, and they had only managed to clear two floors, entirely, when they heard an almighty crash up ahead. it was the first of what became a cacophony of crashes coming from the direction they were travelling, and to the worried ear, it sounded a lot like a struggle. with judy as their priority, there was no question about whether they would or would not follow the noise to its source, and wands out, they proceeded with caution.
the group felt a flash of relief when they pushed the door to the armour gallery and discovered that peeves the poltergeist was the culprit. he bounced back & forth giddily, taking aim at suits of armour as he passed and knocking one clean over as they watched, the commotion explained. their relief didnât get to last for long as he became aware of his audience, and with a gleeful cackle, he launched into a song about getting them all into trouble with filch - destruction continuing as he zipped away towards the trophy room.
they sped after him as fast as they could, the spells that they fired towards him - ones meant to slow him down, or freeze him in place, or banish him entirely - missing by inches every time, his laughter growing more mocking the more damage they helped him cause to trophy cases and tapestrys and photo frames of past quidditch teams. itâs hard to say who managed to hit him with the langlock jinx that stuck his tongue to the roof of his mouth, but he made just as much of a commotion in leaving the trophy room and disappearing into the depths of the castle as he had with full use of his tongue, which was sort of impressive, really.
they knew they couldnât leave the mess for filch to find ( especially since the poltergeist would quite happily pin the blame on damage caused on them ), and they set about tidying the trophy room & armour gallery as best they could the moment he was out of sight. they repaired the glass cases that had been shattered and righted the suits of armour that peeves had turned over, and it was only when one of them bent to pick up the lid of a golden cup he had knocked from a shelf that they saw the pool of drying red that looked suspiciously like blood.
THE FORBIDDEN FOREST.
few could bring themselves to brave the forbidden forest, even with the distinct feeling that judyâs life could have been hanging on the line. hagrid took lead along with a group of centaurs who agreed to search the farthest reaches, so only a couple groups of volunteers were tasked with heading into the depths, with the groups made intentionally small so as to keep the noise down.
oriana trelawney, michael corner & harry potter were one such trio, unlucky enough to be the group sent closest to aragogâs lair. theyâre lucky to have harry in their number - not only does he have firsthand experience with the acromantulas, but he also knows exactly what theyâre looking at when....- well.
the group will be forgiven if they didnât cast glances downwards from tiem to time as they approached the nest, given how much of their focus is in sweeping webs from their path & scanning the horizon for anything on more than two legs. the trail that had been left went unnoticed, but the fallen mound of silver up ahead, dangerously close to the entrance to the lair, certainly does not. anyone familiar with even a textbook picture of unicorns would have known a dead one when they saw it, even at a distance, and the group moved forward to investigate further.
HOGSMEADE VILLAGE.
the most amount of volunteers were directed towards hogsmeade village, and the group comprised of augustine verne, dennis creevey, blaise zabini, hermione granger, nazli demirtas & benjamin malkin began their evening by going door to door, questioning the villagers on whether they had seen the missing judy strout. it was tough going, especially as the doors that wouldnât open to them led to houses that had to go unsearched, and any of them could have been forgiving for wondering if it was one of those buildings that judy was inside.
everything changed as they began the trek towards the hogâs head. as they watched, the door crashed open, light streaming out across the lane. a single figure clutching an unidentifiable lump hesitated for just a moment as if unsure where to go, now, until they spotted the figures just down the lane and suddenly broke into a run in the opposite direction - the anti apparition spell placed on the town as the search took place making a quick escape impossible. their group large enough to split in two directions, half of them chose to run after the figure while the other half rushed into the hogâs head.
the mystery track star runner might have gotten away, if they had taken a right instead of a left. the open road stretches in one direction, out of town and past the borders of the spell on the town, while the other led only to a dead end - cornering them in & making it impossible for them to escape as the group that followed approached, wands out and ready, stitch in their sides. they fired a spell or two at them in desperation, bins exploding, but the group was unharmed - someone casting a quick leg lock spell & causing the figure to topple in with a yell.
when they approached and tore the cloak that had flown up around his face away, they found mundungus fletcher - the mystery lump a sack from which the galleons from the hogâs head till spilled from, now it had fallen on the ground. they decided to leave him there - spitting swear words after them, as they left - and take the money back to aberforthâs pub, where worse things still awaited.
the group that didnât follow found an empty pub - from which mundungus had been able to steal without trouble - and an ajar doorway to the stairwell that headed upstairs. aberforth dumbledore was at the school, assisting minerva with the chaos judyâs disappearance was causing - the barman he had left to watch the bar was found unconscious in his quarters, the passageway hidden behind the portrait of ariana exposed.
THE CLUES TO BE FOUND.
the pool of blood in the trophy room,
the dead unicorn, in the forest,
& an unconscious barman before the open passageway into hogwarts.
WHO: Josie & Dennis ( @sqviidboy )
WHERE: Hogwarts Castle
WHEN: Seventh Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts
IT IS EXCEEDINGLY STRANGE TO BE BACK WITHIN THE WALLS OF HOGWARTS. Once upon a time this place had been akin to a SANCTUARY for Josephine â a place where she could spread her wings and taste ( if only for a moment ) the sweetness of success, of recognition, of EXCEPTIONALITY. Of course, those feelings now felt distant, hollow â it had only taken a matter of months for the place that Josie had treated as a second home ( and perhaps one she felt more comfortable within than her own childhood home ) to become something else â something dark, twisted, WICKED. Though sheâd had some distance from the awful memories that had transpired within the walls of this castle â they still felt fresh in her mind as she set foot onto the hallowed grounds once more.
Perhaps she wouldnât be staying here at all, if not for the sheer CONVENIENCE of it. Attending the memorial had become tradition for the wixen community â both among those who had fought in the war, and those who had not. Although sheâd been RELUCTANT at first, Jo had ultimately followed Nellie to the battle seven years ago â though she still canât quite say for certain whether this had been the right decision ( sure, they had WON, but Jo was quite certain they would have done so with or without her help â or lack thereof ).
Sheâs been stalling on the stairs back to the Ravenclaw quarters for perhaps a fraction too long when she hears footsteps behind her â turning and giving her former peer a smile, âItâs so strange to be back, donât you think? I almost forgot what itâs like here.â
