El’s day job might be an elementary school, but she is also a single mother of the sweetest seven year old boy named Bailey (fc: Jacob Tremblay). Though Bailey’s father, Jason (FC: Joel Kinnaman) still tries to make a habit of being part of his son’s life. They were married for five years and divorced when Bailey was three as he ran around at all hours of the night and started getting in trouble with the law. However, Jason is all bark and no bite and for the most part is merely just a thorn in her side.

However, despite Jason being in and out of the picture, Bailey does have his uncle Jesse (El makes this joke constantly) who practically lives at their apartment with his odd hours as a bartender. Bailey loves hearing his uncle’s stories and going out to the movies and playing baseball.

He’s a sensitive kid, far too sweet for his own good and is absolutely enthralled by the stars. At night, the pair will lay in his bed and point up at the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and make up constellations. El dreams of saving up for a road trip to Big Bend National Park, where she’ll take him camping under the stars. She’s already researched how people essentially ‘buy’ stars and name them, so, she can give it as a birthday gift someday.

She loves nothing more than her kid and thinks he’s the Damn coolest one on this fucking planet. No one could outdo her Bailey.
