                                  “ they’re lovely,                         aren’t they ? ”     her eyes fell to the carnations in her hand,                      different anonymous notes scattered across the various cards.

   “ they say eyes are the windows to your soul . ”

“ here to see mcgonagall ?                      i assure you, she isn’t in the best of moods. ”

alice tugged at her dress nervously, helplessly trying to occupy herself with anything to get her mind off of the evening's event. she’d been looking forward to the valentine’s day ball for weeks now and it was sadly not going as she’d expected. with a soft sigh, the brunette wandered off towards the refreshments table, pouring herself a drink and scanning the crowd for a friendly face. 

❝if you’re looking for the punch, it’s over by the far left corner but i’d be quick to get some if i were you, it’s likely to be spiked soon and as fond as i am of the odd drink or two, you never really know WHAT they’re lacing it with. better safe than sorry.❞ 

            ----“ what exactly are you doing? ”  rita asked, attempting to surprise the other student by speaking over their shoulder. the effect ruined by her disapproving tone saturated with amusement

                       “ YOU SHOULD SEE THE OTHER GUYS. ”    he was proud, an odd mixture of confidence and amusement sketched across his features. caradoc wore his semi-subtle shiner with pride, the boy considering himself significantly more carefree after having let off some steam. “ now c’mon, what are the stakes ? good ol’ fashioned drinkin’ games gotta have a purpose. ”

               “  I’m gonna lay down on the floor and die for like half an hour, okay?  ”
