So genuine question, and I'm gonna ask on here because I'm a nerd. I apologize if you've answered already. Did you have any type of thought process behind naming Mori? I was looking up the meaning. In Latin, it means "to die" or "dying". Which is also a part of the phrase "memento mori", which means "remember that you must die"/"remember death".
I also remember you're a big Will Wood fan, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was part of your inspiration for naming him. Dweeb.
THIS IS A REALLY GOOD QUESTION!!!
I was actually really stuck on his name for a good while!
I made him all the way back in June, and as you know, it took me a month to get the main part of his character done all together! Not just his ref sheet, but of course his character too!!
I don't exactly remember the past names I had for him, but they all started with M!
I DID ACTUALLY DO RESEARCH ON HIS NAME!! Which is what stumped me in the first place..
I wanted it to be some other name that made more sense meaning-wise, but it just never stuck! It didn't fit as smoothly as "Mori"
I've been aware that his name means that, but I never intended for him to be dead in the WH universe. BUT! Now that you've mentioned this fact to me that's left my head for almost 2 years now.... it makes sense.
To die, dying, remember that you must die, and remember death? It all fits, but not exactly with Mori.
Maybe it's his sibling, maybe he has to remember her death every day...
Maybe it's Mori? Maybe he's dying too? But in some different way?
Anyways, thanks for the ask homo 🫶
