Personality: She's a very outgoing and can be sometimes reckless. People say that she acts before she thinks but in reality Nova just loves the adrenaline rush and the fact that she's finally the one in control. That doesn't mean she's stupid, she not but purposely makes people believe otherwise. However, she is protective over people she cares about, juts struggles to show that she cares due to her upbringing and the fear that they will betray her. Plus she sees herself as a danger, a monster, a killer and only that.

Powers: Blood manipulation. She can make people do whatever she wants by using their blood as a puppeteer would use puppet strings. Furthermore she can use any blood around her to make physical objects such as weapons.

Nova can also use her own blood to do that but she has to injure herself to make her bleed, plus she will loose that blood as it becomes contaminated and can't go back in her body. Her ability makes her really tired and can even make her sick and go into a coma if she isn't careful and overuses it.

Backstory: She was given away by her parents for experimentations when she was a toddler, her parents never wanted a child and this was the get out card that they needed. Nova was a boy at the time and was experimented on for as long as she could remember, feeling uncomfortable in her own body for so many years for so many reasons. The experiments caused her powers to be unlocked too early and at the time she was very unstable and unable to control them very well. Furthermore, the experiments made her very resistant to many other powers.

Since she was one of the most promising experiments they got one of the other experiments and employees to be kinder to her. The employee helped her with her transition and the other experiment, Lauren, was her best friend and eventually partner. But the truth eventually came out due to Nova being very sneaky and finding her files by accident. She was only 20 when she escaped and immediately went to her parents house, looking for answers and hoping that they would accept her.

Why could Nova’s powers kill her? 

Because it hurts like hell and causes her harm if she’s using her own blood. Using her own blood makes her lose it as she can’t put it back inside her body. And if she could it would hurt anyway due to the blood now being contaminated. Furthermore when she’s pissed, Nova bleeds from her eyes and her facial scars and that blood is contaminated too. Luckily due to the blood getting very contaminated it can’t be used to link her to any crime. Plus Nova can just change her blood type if she needs to. 

Her powers are essentially a double edged sword, making her the best killer the world has ever seen but also making her suffer and slowly killing her. 

Is she immune to the ability of others?

Yes and no. It depends on how exhausted she is. On a day to day basis Nova is immune to most mind powers and able to tolerate any powers that will physically damage her. For example if a fire user tried to burn her it would work but Nova would laugh as she’ll be unable to really feel the pain, lab experiments made sure of that. 

Mind abilities are similar but it depends on the type. Crescendo’s ability for example would not work on her, it’s too weak and too similar to the lab experiments that Nova is resistant to it. Amara’s ability would work BUT Nova would be very aware of it. She would say “Amara get out of my head unless you want to see me gut a person” However, if Nova is exhausted/on the verge of collapse then mind abilities could work on her. It’s not a guarantee but you will have a higher chance compared to when she’s not in that state. 

What are Nova’s face scars?

As part of the experiments, the lab wanted to see if her blood abilities could also be used for healing and not just killing. They cut her face over and over again trying to trigger it. It worked but by that point the cuts were too deep to fully heal and now they’re a permanent part of her face. They’re healed but they look like they are brand new and when Nova is pissed they will open up and starts bleeding like a river. Not a good or painless thing. 

Why did Nova’s parents give her up?

They didn’t want her. Her mother had a cryptic pregnancy so Nova was a very unhappy and unplanned surprise. They didn’t want to give her up for adoption as that would leave a trace and people could connect it back to them, plus in a world full of powers adoption can be…a pain. So they gave her up for experimentation. “Make him suffer like he did to me” - quote by her mother (Nova was born a boy). “At least he will be useful for once here”- quote by her father. 

Why does she wear a choker and gloves?

It’s to hide her scars. She has her experiment number (011) put on her neck-front and back, wrists and ankles. Each of them was put in a different way so that if one got damaged then others would survive-for example it’s burned on her neck but tattooed on her wrists. 

Furthermore it’s to hide her scars from shock collars. Due to her powers being so dangerous she had multiple shock collars put in multiple places of her body and she got shocked regularly, it’s why she has such a high pain tolerance. She uses foundation to hide them due to the fact that she can’t make them go away even with her blood manipulation powers (the scars became that bad before she could heal herself with her powers) but the accessories are there just in case the foundation wasn’t blended in well or she was in a hurry. 

Why has she never been caught as an assassin despite her powers?  

Due to her blood not having a set blood type. When it leaves her body the blood type will constantly keep changing due to not having a default. The reason why that hasn’t been linked back to her is because multiple heroes and villains (main shapeshifters) have that  problem with their blood so her blood is useless. Plus she mostly uses her victim’s blood anyway so she rarely leaves any traces of herself 

Can she shapeshift?

Yes and no. Adapting is the better word. Changing her appearance to match a different human? Yeah she can do that to an extent, like hair colour and eye colour. Body type not really due to that being made with a lot more stuff than just blood/DNA.  She can technically give herself certain features like a tail or fins/gills but it hurts like hell and she needs to know the biology of what she’s adapting very well (which isn’t that much of an issue due to her being one of the most intelligent people in the world).

 However, she can’t fully change her biology to a different species. Like she can’t turn into a giant humanoid fish or whatever. Too complicated and very very painful on her body. Better and easier to stick to only certain features and that’s only when she has to. 

How did Nova get her day job? 

The location was very short staffed and a lot of the martial arts trainers weren’t fully trained. Nova just slipped in and showed just how good she was and was basically hired on the spot. She quickly got promoted to being the manager/owner of the place and has basically given it new life, making it the most popular martial arts studio in the country and one of the best in the world. 

Others scars/wounds

Her whole body is covered in them, she just uses a shittone of concealer to cover them up. They’re all different kinds of scars, from cuts to surgery scars to burns and bullet wounds. They wanted to test out exactly how much she could take/survive/heal with her powers. 

Furthermore, they all put her experiment number on her left eye. Using very specific lasers to burn/cut it into her eye without making her blind. She just uses eye contacts or even her blood ability to hide it. You can see it when she’s pissed and her eyes and wounds are all bleeding.

How she joined the organisation

The organisation didn’t find her, she found them. Very easily, being a lab experiment makes you able to recognise such organisations with ease. Their boss and daughter are very recognisable and just a little bit of blood manipulation to torture an employee or two made it very easy to find out about them. Plus Crescendo’s powers don’t affect her on a day to day basis, putting two and two together was easy as cake. 

What she does for the organisation

She’s an assassin but sometimes is the main person to torture people for information, it’s a bloody job and she is more than up for it. Though she does have limits when it comes to it, she won’t torture the person just because the truth isn’t something the boss doesn’t want to hear and she won’t hurt people who made a genuine mistake or the circumstances forced their hands 

Why isn’t she on the hero’s side?

Because they’re hypocritical assholes. They act high and mighty but if it wasn’t for circumstances they would be seen as villains in the public eye. They get away with so much shit! 

One of those things is the lab experimentations that she and Nohel were a part of. She’s never going to be on the hero’s side, she’ll quicker kill herself. 

Did Nohel and her know each other?

Not officially until the organisation. They have briefly seen each other in passing back at the lab and they knew of each other but they never talked due to being in different sectors. Despite sharing the same main doctor looking after them, they were kept in completely different sections due to both of them being very intelligent, strong and very unstable due to their powers and intelligence. 

Nohel’s escape was what caused the domino effect of Nova getting curious and finding out the truth about the lab before escaping herself. When the two of them joined the organisation they recognised each other but didn’t know from where. Call it a weird sense of deja vu. It wasn’t until a specific conversation between them that it finally clicked. 

Do Nohel and Nova get along? 

They do, they have different personalities (they are basically grumpy- Nohel- and Sunshine- Nova-) but they do have fun together and are able to bond due to their shared trauma and need for revenge. They are often put on missions together and they are always successful, people genuinely fear them during missions because they are so ruthless and powerful. 

Nova does try to get Nohel to have a little fun, taking them to parties, teasing them and more just to get them to let loose. Nova does that because she wants Nohel to enjoy life a little, so that revenge doesn’t consume her. Plus Nova knows that this job could kill either of them, Nova knows that between the two of them Nova will die first due to her job, the fact that her powers could kill her and the fact that she is still human, just with extra everything. So Nova wants the two of them to have fun, live life and have happy memories with the group. 

Will Nova have a romance arc?

I’m debating it. I think it would be cute and she desperately needs someone to love her for her and heal her from the bullshit Lauren put her through but I’m not sure. 

Who is Lauren? 

She’s Nova’s ex-girlfriend from the lab. She was forced to be Nova’s girlfriend to make Nova stable and happy at the lab, if she wasn’t then the whole lab could be in danger. 

Lauren never actually loved Nova. She too was an experiment but unlike Nova she became one willingly to study powers and how much someone can take. She hated Nova but was able to put on a good act, plus she did fear her deep down since Nova could kill her with ease and she couldn’t fight her that easily even with her fire powers. 

Who is ‘Mother’?

She’s the main doctor/caretaker assigned to Nova’s group in the lab. None of them ever got her real name, only Mother and that’s what Nova has called her ever since. Even now it feels weird and wrong to call her anything but that despite knowing that ‘Mother’ never cared about her on a personal level.

Why hasn’t Nova killed Lauren?

She promised ‘Mother’ that she would protect Lauren at any cost and Nova took promises very seriously. Furthermore, Nova did genuinely love Lauren and finding out the truth broke her so much that she didn’t know what to do but to escape. She was only focused on escaping and starting fresh so she did not care what happened to Lauren afterwards. Nova has not looked for Lauren ever since.
