Huawei Nova 2i Goes Official With FullView Display, Smartphone REVIEW, 4...
Huawei’s Nova 2i smartphone has not two but four cameras, which is a first for the Chinese tech giant, best known for its flagship P and Mate series.
“We started the dual camera demand with the Huawei P9 last year and continued it with Mate 9 and P10 this year. Now with the Nova 2i, we offer quad cameras,” said Huawei consumer business group product director for South Pacific region Luke Au.
On the back it has a main 16-megapixel sensor for image processing and a smaller 2-megapixel sensor for capturing depth information. The depth information allows the phone to produce the popular Bokeh effect.
Similarly, on the front it has a main 13-megapixel sensor complemented by a 2-megapixel sensor for capturing depth information. This allows selfies to have a more natural blurred out background.
“Today’s camera technology is no longer about just the megapixel count. It’s also about finding the right balance of aperture size and pixel size,” said Au.
The Nova 2i is powered by the company’s HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor and has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD) and 3,340mAh battery.
Complementing the sleek metal chassis is a large 5.93in display which with a vertically-longer ratio of 18:9 and resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels.
It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and comes pre-loaded with EMUI 5.1 user interface, rear fingerprint sensor and the company’s Histen Audio Algorithm which is claimed to improve 3D surround audio experience with headphones.
The Nova 2i will be available on Oct 13 in three colour options – Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Aurora Blue.
The smartphone will retail for RM1,299. Customers who purchase the device on the day itself at Huawei Experience stores or Display Zones will receive gifts worth RM499, including a selfie stick, headphones and smartphone ring holder while stock lasts.
