Dare Me (I Dare You)

Sirius beamed at Remus when he took his arm and, with James on the other arm, paraded over to where Peter was waving at them from. Everyone who was waiting to play had arranged themselves in somewhat of a circle. There was so much warmth in Sirius’ chest, having all his friends around like this. He’d missed this feeling dearly while he and Remus had been fighting, and having it back now only intensified the feeling.
He flopped down beside Peter and made room for Remus beside him as James stepped in as ringleader to introduce the game: Truth or Dare. Since being constantly full of both truths and dares was practically a personality trait for James, he also volunteered to go first and Sirius chuckled at his enthusiasm. He watched in amusement as James zeroed in on Frank Longbottom who sat across the circle from them.
In true Head Boy fashion, Frank chose truth and the look on James’ face told Sirius what kind of game this was going to be. “It’s life and death, you have to snog one Professor. Who do you choose?”
There was immediate laughter around the circle, but Frank put on a serious face, really considering. “McGonagall,” Frank said rather confidently. The group was full of laughs and mixed comments, and then it was Frank’s turn.
As Frank thought, Sirius became more and more aware of the space between himself and Remus. It was far less electric than it had been when they were dancing, which he should have been relieved about, but instead found himself missing it. Not as much as he missed the brief contact they’d had when he’d been bold enough to close the space, though. Someone else in the circle spoke, and he forced his attention back to the game, sitting up a little straighter.
