This past week, the unimaginable happened. The thing we've all been joking about for the past year and a half actually came to pass. We were all so certain that hate, misogyny, racism, xenophobia, sexism, transphobia and homophobia was in the minority- and we were proven wrong. The election of Donald Trump proved to us all, beyond any doubt, that the world is an ugly, scary place, and that for any positive change to come to pass, it's going to take all of us. The effects of this election are felt disproportionately by communities of colour, and the LGBTQ* community. Disproportionately, the responsibility for causing this nightmare falls on white people. We have failed. We are failing, and the those paying the price are doing so with their lives. The day after the election, our man JT issued a statement of support for President-elect trump, and cited our "shared values". The members of the CYD-DJC vehemently denounce this statement, and these values. I will not align myself with a self-professed climate denying, racist sexual predator. Trudeau's shared values are #notmyvalues
