To go or not to go?
All week long Poppy had been debating whether she should go to the Homecoming dance or not. Usually she lived for these kind of events, but this year everything was different. Ever since she slept with Ram at the last party she felt awful and gross, especially because it was the second time she had hooked up with someone’s boyfriend. Poppy was secretly a very depressed girl who cared a lot about other people’s feeling, and knowing how much she hurt Dee made her even more depressed. She had already helped torment the girl for years, hooking up with her boyfriend must have felt like Poppy was trying to ruin her life all over again.  No matter how hard she tried she was reminded of the mistake she made, one that she couldn’t take back and she constantly felt like punishing herself for. Because of her guilt Homecoming wasn’t exactly at the top of her list of things to do for the week. Yet it seemed like no matter where she turned there was talk of Homecoming from who was going with who, to what they were going to wear, even up to who they were nominating as king and queen. Last year she had been one of those girls, if only she could go back to last year. Back then it had been so easy to act like she didn’t care.
This year all she ever did was care. This year she had decided to show more of her kindness and make a few new friends. That definitely changed her outlook on life a lot. Where she wouldn’t have cared last year about hurting other people, now it left her heartbroken. Meeting so many new people and showing off a bit more of her true colors had started changing her. She felt the need to become a better person, to fix herself. But after her little stunt at the fashion show after party she began doubting if she could be fixed. It was while in thought that she realized that this year’s Homecoming could be her start; it could be proof in how much she was looking to change. She was planning on not drinking alcohol there and was even going dateless which was something completely unheard of for a Heather.
After thinking long and hard, while doing Willow’s hair and makeup, about going to the dance she decided that she should go. She was going to take Tinsley’s advice and show up to Homecoming no matter how depressed she was. It was better to show up looking better than ever than to not show up at all, it would be her way of proving that she wasn’t going to let this bring her down and that she was getting her life together. As she put on her makeup and did her hair she realized that all she could do was hope, hope that she could fix everything she had messed up. Because she remembered something a friend told her once, nothing was unfixable.Â
