Before you call someone Grinch it Scrooge this holiday season, Please remember, this is not a super happy and joyful time of year for everyone. For some, this is a season of angst, sorrow, a reminder of what was and what isn't any more, a reminder of sad times. For some, this isn't the most wonderful time of year. I'm not asking you to not be joyful or happy. I'm asking you to be mindful. When someone grumbles at you or doesn't reply to your "happy Thanksgiving," "happy holidays," or "merry Christmas," please don't take it personally. You don't know that person's story. You don't know what they've been through or what they are going through now. You don't know of what this season reminds them. This doesn't mean you shouldn't be happy or say these things. It means don't take it personally, don't call them a Scrooge or a Grinch, don't be rude to them just because you don't know their story and, surprisingly, this season of year is harder for more people than you realize.
