1. Don’t be afraid to set reminders!
It can go anywhere, from a notebook to a sticky note! I use bookmarklet Post-Its from Daiso and I just use one for a day. I stick them on my computer as I use it often for my homework :)
2. Don’t spend too much time on fancy titles!
If you want to be efficient while doing your notes, just make your headings by writing normally and highlighting over it. If you want some parts of your body text to be highlighted, use a different colour.
Your title can be simply just lettering or highlighting uppercase letters and doing monoline script in the middle with a normal pen. You can spend a little more time on that, but not too long!
3. Always colour-code!
This helps if you’re the kind of person that stuffs everything into a binder without dividers or somewhere at home on your desk.
Simply set a key for yourself on a sticky note to remind you about which subject is what colour. Once you know it by heart, you’ll find it easier to organise and revise!
4. Always use the same supplies for all subjects!
Don’t go all out and bring a stuffed pencil case with different coloured brush pens, markers and more. Just go simple by bringing four highlighters, a brush pen, a pen or two, a coloured pen and a pencil! Don’t forget an eraser too :)
5. Take the information that’s the most important to you and write it down!
Because I’m big on detail, I have tons of bullet points on one section because I think almost every single word’s important! However, if you see a redundant sentence or words that are not compulsory, it doesn’t hurt to get rid of it, but if there’s an important word you don’t know, find synonyms.
6. Use apps like Forest and Flipd to get off your phone!
Most of us are distracted by our mobile phones regularly as we find ourselves wanting to reply to a text message or post something new on Instagram. We can solve that by productivity apps like Forest and Flipd!
These apps, in my opinion, are motivational for focusing on schoolwork. They prevent you from going to other apps or else progress will be lost, and it’s fine to turn off your phone and let time pass! Forest is quite rewarding if you’re a nature person – a tree will be grown each time you set the timer, and Flipd has a great interface!
7. Be happy with your progress!
Lastly, be happy. With yourself for putting effort, getting good grades and revising productively! If your parents aren’t proud, take it as an opportunity to get better.
