okay, so, i'll just do a series of posts instead of one big post, because that thing was getting out of control.

some general #foundational notes:

fuck lex's self-defense lessons: lana took karate growing up (her aunt was distraught she couldn't be talked into ballet) and through high school. she was never, like, helpless.

lana actually does, consistently, have an Art Thing. she is very big on documenting her life and, more specifically, the people in her life. she draws and paints portraits almost exclusively (if you have been close to her for any amount of time, particularly when she's still a kid, you HAVE been gifted them). she takes a lot of pictures.

lana is legally emancipated when nell leaves her sophomore year. she may still live with chloe for a time, but probably only if i'm writing with one --- generally, i assume she'd just end up in the talon apartment earlier (we all know no one living there pays rent, anyway).

this should be obvious, but since it's apparently not: lana was never 'popular'. she was a cheerleader for half a semester her freshman year (because she thought she'd feel closer to her dead mother--- she did not), and people generally weren't horrible to her or anything (#meteor orphan privilege), but, like. she was painfully shy as a kid. also just morbid and weird, and one of few students of color (in this, central kansas), and she had a pretty bad lisp for a pretty long time. her like, four friends in the show are certainly the most she has ever had up until that point.

i do not "ship" lana with any of her canon love interests in, like, the way most people use that term. i care deeply about her dynamics with clark and lex, and i care deeply about doing them justice here --- they are both so much a part of her, for better and for worse --- but all of her onscreen relationships are beyond unhealthy (and clark is the ONLY one where there's not a concerning age and/or power gap) and i have no interest in perpetuating them. if you're used to me and my blogs, you'll know i am a very Healing Narrative-focused guy, and that's what i'm here for: to let lana be her own person and finally figure out what she wants and what she's comfortable with.

following her injuries in s2 and s6, lana walks with a slight limp [right leg] and has lost some sensation/fine motor skills in her right hand. she 'adjusts' fine, all things considered --- ultimately, she's functionally ambidextrous[ish] --- but this is all very much Present. For Me.

(relatedly: throughout most of her twenties, she does have most of the powers of a kryptonian, but they do not 'fix' her or save her from chronic pain.)

(also relatedly: i'm not super interested in writing her during this period or as superw/oman without plotting. like, i'm into it, but i need to know what we're doing, as this is not where i expend most of my Creative Energy.)

public enemy number one here is always lion/el lu/thor, if he's alive (in which case, of course, the position defaults to his bald son). we are not sorry for kidnapping and torturing him that one time, and we would do it again. you cannot bring that "he's different now" stuff around lana --- i mean, you can, but it won't go well.

speaking of Those People: i would never insinuate that lana isn't rich, post-luthor, but she's very much, like, 'human person' rich. she turned down a divorce settlement from lex, so she didn't become a billionaire or anything. she had, however, previously stolen 10 mil to 1. fake her own death (and frame him for it) 2. start her non-profit. but that money doesn't go as far as you might expect, when you're trapped in a comic book.

Hi Friends! Today I'd love to share with you a new Kpop DIY video. I received some comments asking for a step-by-step video, so this time I'll make two more cute little notebooks which you can also use as a greeting card or a small gift :) For this tutorial we'll use common material such as: glue, scissors, paper, cardboard and markers/colors. In this video I show the process to create a BTS & GOT7 notebook ★.

clark and lana break up during/right after 'reckoning' (5x12; that's the winter after they graduated high school, if that's relevant to you and you don't go here). they do not get back together. you will still find her at the kent farm for some of season seven, but then she buys her childhood home next door, and she will be there whenever she's in smallville after that.

lex goes to prison circa s8, not [gestures vaguely]. he and lana were married about a year (she still leaves the same way, it just takes a while longer). her pregnancy was not retconned here, but their son did not live. you don't need to worry about the details of that because, frankly, she is not going to talk about it (if we are writing around that time, i will fill you in on what's relevant/whatever you want to know) but that one specific thing was not his fault.

isis = qilin. we just cannot be calling our organizations isis anymore (plus, good excuse for me to tie in chinese mythology). obviously she couldn't run it while in a coma, but after recovering, she does take back over (though through s8-11, she's typically not around in person).

lana does still leave post-s7, and she is still kidnapped by lex (and escapes), but 1. the 'breakup tape' he made her make is not, well, A Breakup Tape, for obvious reasons. 2. she does come home to clear things up, when she's had a minute to get herself together. she's still kind of off doing her own thing, but she is not just missing for 7 months without anybody questioning it. she leaves the country again after she has the prometheus suit, same as ever, but without the whole "clark is allergic to her" angle --- she leaves because she needs to be gone for a while.

lana and lois --- specifically @loisl4ne who's been Doing the Smallville Reconstruction Work with me --- are close. i mean, they ARE friends, so this isn't really 'canon divergence', but the show spends about 2 seconds on that, so it's worth mentioning that it's important! to me!
