Fic Pic Set 1/? - @redbuttonhole‘s The Arch-Enemy Who Came for Tea, or Saturday at 221B.
"May I?" said Moriarty, indicating the couch.
"Please," said Sherlock. Moriarty sat down and unfolded the paper while Sherlock stretched again, his head on the cushion, his bare feet in Moriarty's lap.
Moriarty's eyebrows lifted. "Are you quite comfortable, dear?"
Sherlock closed his eyes and steepled his fingers under his chin. "Quite. Now go ahead – get started, and let me know when you run across any interesting clues. I prefer not to waste my time with the easy ones."
Having had more than enough of this strange game, I grabbed my coat and made for the stairs.
"Are you going somewhere?" said Sherlock.
"Shops," I replied through clenched teeth. "We're out of milk."
Hope you like it, friend! And anyone else who likes it, feel free to request fic pics. Fun challenge indeed.
Crowley's all "How about it, Angel?"
My fourth rec at 221b-recs!
Title: A Gift for Rosie Author: redbuttonhole Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/Eurus Holmes, Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Mummy Holmes/Uncle Rudy Length: 3,652 Rating: Mature Verse: Sherlock BBC Author Summary: Mycroft, by the way, advised me not to tell you anything of this affair beyond the bare minimum. He seems to think you'll react badly, and I can't help but grant that he is probably correct... But you're family now, John. It's time you learned exactly what that means. Content Warning: Infidelity, Incest (off-stage, between consenting adult siblings. Not involving Rosie!) Reccer's comments: Eurus Holmes is a divisive character for sure - but she presents a lot of great opportunities for fic writers. And as soon as we saw Musgrave Hall in all its Gothic glory, stories that play on Gothic literature tropes started to seem natural - even in the supernatural or unnatural. (This story also fills in major some gaps in various characters' motivations from the series, IMO.) This is an epistolary fic, Sherlock writing a letter to his partner John, letting him in all the family secrets - as so often in Gothic lit, that family secret happens to be a history of incest: consensual incest between adult siblings, often with the intention of producing a super-super genius instead of just a regular run-of-the-mill genius. Eurus is the product of such a union. The letter proceeds with such straightforward, elegantly written logic and subtle appeals to emotion that the slowly dawning horrific conclusion the reader is coming to about Sherlock’s special project almost seems perfectly fine. Sherlock’s matter-of-fact emotional honesty is touching and kept me so riveted I welcomed the slow derailment of reason. And the denouement reminded me of a certain pivotal, shattering line of dialogue from the climax of Watchmen.Â
She predicted the exact dates of the last three terrorist attacks on the British mainland after an hour on Twitter. That sort of thing.

notagarroter reblogged your post and added:
Okay but honest question: what about Trojan Horse fic? Â Where someone specifically trolls shippers by tagging for one ship and then doing a bait and switch with another.
This is a bit different from the topic of tagging dark or triggery works, so I’ll answer it separately.
In this case, there are 3 possible things happening. Luckily, there’s one solution for all of them. First, the options.
Option 1: Poster is genuine. They are tagging the ship for completeness, even though it is not end-game. These are usually detectable because they put the other ship in the tags, too. Some of these are multi- or poly-shippers who tag with all the sub-ships of the final ship. Some just want everyone to be able to skip works that involve ships they don’t like.
Solution: Ignore them. Probably also subtract the other ship they’re tagging for from your search, because they won’t be the only one doing this.
Option 2: Trollololol. Gets their kicks out of trolling the ship tag. Enjoys seeing people riled up in comments, in bookmarks, and off-site. Loves knowing you’ve reported their works.
Solution: Ignore the HELL out of them, and privately make sure your friends do, too. Trolls will fade and go elsewhere if starved of attention. If you feed them, they will never leave.
Option 3: Poster is genuine and expresses their love for their OTP through pain for their OTP. These are usually detectable because the angst is dripping off the page.
Solution: If angst is not your thing, ignore them. If angst is your thing, just be aware that a happy ending for your OTP is probably not in their cards, so buyer beware and all that.
I strongly recommend the use of AO3′s unofficial blacklist tools to shape your archive experience to your liking.

haven’t done this in a while.. I follow so many lovely people, and here is an excellent sampling. <3
So, I must know, because I wonder every time I see you on my dash. What's the origin story behind your url?
Notagarroter? It’s from The Sign of Three, of course!
SHERLOCK (quick fire): Billy Kincaid, the Camden Garroter. Best man I ever knew. Vast contributions to charity, never disclosed.(John frowns.)SHERLOCK (quick fire): Personally managed to save three hospitals from closure and ran the best and safest children’s homes in north England.(John tiredly rubs his fingers over his eyes.)SHERLOCK (grimacing briefly): Yes, every now and again there’d be some garrottings, but stacking up the lives saved against the garrottings, on balance I’d say ...JOHN (interrupting): For my wedding! For me. I need a best man.SHERLOCK: Oh, right.JOHN: Maybe not a garroter. (x)
John’s delivery of that line just slays me every time.  And I love the internal rhyme, the pleasing rhythm of it.  It’s a delightful phrase, while also being a little dark, a little funny, a little ridiculous, and very Sherlock. :)
