congrats on finishing your rewatch! it’s awesome that you’ve rediscovered your love for csi and gsr. there’s nothing quite like coming back to an old otp after being away for a while, is there?  

i’m so happy that you like my writing about the show and ship, and especially my fic. writing such complex and cerebral characters as grissom and sara in a way that comes across as natural to them is a huge challenge, so it means a lot to me that you would say my takes are in-character. ❤

i’ve actually been working on the next chapter of “something in you i believe in” recently, and i’ve got it about ¾ of the way finished. i’m an abysmally slow writer (as the fact that i haven’t updated since november 2017 well proves), so i can’t say when exactly i’ll have it posted, but i’m really trying to get it done SOON.

until then, how about a little preview?

“How’s it going?” Grissom’s tone is less formal now,more conversational.

He looks to her with genuine interest, and shefights inside of herself against burning to the ground. The encounter seems tobe tipping, gathering natural momentum, headed downhill in the direction shehad meant to take it—toward the subject she had wanted to discuss with him—thatshe’d been planning to bring up from the start. But the pacing is too fast, themoment dragging her along rather than being led by her. She wants to slow down,to catch her breath. There’s too much heat and too much light. Too much him.

“Well,” she says, an oversimplification. A quickreframe. “It’s, uh, been interesting.” She’s still nodding like she can’t doanything else. She reaches for the words, for the courage tosay what she must say next—something about how her psychiatrist suggested thatshe speak with someone about an issue from the past and how she was wonderingif that person could be him; if they could talk sometime about her progress.

She searches for the proper segue, but her skinradiates like Vegas summer, and her pulse bass drum throbs, heavy beneath thecorners of her jaw, in her ears, and even at the center of her palms. Staticfills her mind, thoughts and noise gathering to a crescendo. Still. She opensher mouth to speak the words, to just say something, goddamn it—

A crash.

She turns to look over her shoulder and sees Gregthrough the glass walls of the DNA lab, Chandra standing behind him. Brokenglass, perhaps once an Erlenmeyer flask, glints atop the surface of one of themetal tables. When he sees her and Grissom looking at him, Greg appearssheepish. He points surreptitiously toward Chandra, blaming her for theaccident.

The loud clatter and momentary pause are all ittakes.
