HMMM I should get on board with this! (first run of the week’s on Wednesday, and then we’ll go from there!)
Introductions: I’m Lauren! 26, grad school, have always hated running--still do, but I hate it a little less when dealing with zombs. How Often Do You Plan To Run?: goal is 9 miles or 3 times a week. I’m still lifting twice a week, so we’ll see how it goes! I usually average 3x/week anyways, so here’s hoping this helps me get back in the swing of things. Best Zombie-Fighting Weapon?: so Five picked up a sword a while back and while my Five definitely prefers baseball bats (my headcanon was that was her primary weapon til she gave it to Sara), but something about that sword and its ability to snikt through zomb necks. also that, if it’s in its scabbard, it makes a pretty good bat too. ZombieLink Profile: fwylion Something Fun: I made a red velvet cake and decorated it to look like a brain for last Halloween! still trying to figure out just what to bake for this year...

...right? (but seriously I cleaned for most of the morning, and with the amount of gunk on the stove? definitely exercise.)
ugh end of quarter blues and stuff. planning on gym tomorrow, then run/run/xfit/travel for the rest of the week. I’m 1000% not prepared to be on a plane on Friday, but so it goes, I suppose. I’ll likely be grading all day(ish) Wednesday and Thursday, and I need to finish writing something by Tuesday, so who knows what else I’ll be doing this week.
I think I’m going to block tumblr from all access, except for that brief 30min period so I can record my workouts/wish real hard in the morning I could be doing this. I owe this blog, what, at least one extra Thinky Blog to make up for the missed days this past week. and having to post these not-exercise posts, full of thoughts and feelings (and cupcakes I guess) is helpful to keep me motivated. and I really really really really want to know what’s happening in s3 of zr!
plus I still need to finish decorating cupcakes in the morning. joy of joys.
off day: uhhhh
today’s the day after a really long, emotionally draining (for both good and bad reasons) weekend, and 16h of travel in 36h. so rather than going for a nice run, I ate a pint of ice cream.
I’ll just. not tell my coaches. I’m still going to hit 5/7 days this week, as long as I go every day from Wednesday through Saturday, which will be a pain but it’s better than other things. plus I missed Murph on Monday, so we’ll see.
I’m winding down on this quarter (FINAFUCKINLY), and while I’m entirely sure I didn’t accomplish near what I was supposed to on any level--the reasons for that are probably a post for another day, when I don’t need to get back to my work now--I think there’s still some good stuff in there. I’ve gotten through to one or two students, there’s people with good ideas being spread around, and I’ve learned a lot.
it’s too bad I had to sacrifice a lot of things for that, including my students’ credibility, but one thing I didn’t was staying in shape. it’s what kept me together during the worst parts, or at least gave me touchstones. I certainly wasn’t doing enough, but it was something.
and doing something, anything, to keep going, that I knew was productive and helpful to myself, for myself. it meant a lot.

I think Five canonically is a big fan of The Running Man dance move but tbh mine dances more like Shepard too
Five’s attempts to do the Running Man in the field have led to near-disasters on multiple attempts and my Five’s dance moves were previously marked as Lethal To Zombs And Humans. it’s best left to shindigs and parties where it can be properly contained.
