Jeg er Potato (affectionate)
Today (well yesterday, but I just remembered now) in local norwegian circus slang:
A generalist, someone who kind of does everything (like me, handstands, juggles, most common aerial apparati) is called a Potato. Because you go with everything.
I could not bring myself to explain, at length, the cultural self-loathing that I inherited that makes describing myself as a potato a negative thing. I've never been called a potato (affectionate) ever in my life and it's just... so sweet and so funny in ways I'm having trouble articulating.

Yes indeed – my husband and I moved to Oslo about a year ago when he got an academic job here! I am working remotely for a university in our previous country, and I'm studying in England (part time), so... it's a lot of time zones to manage 😅
We love Norway. Nowhere is perfect, obviously, but it sure comes pretty close.
My only current regret is that we haven't had much of a chance to travel around and see more of the country yet. If you have any recommendations for historic sites especially, I will gladly take them!
Regular visitors to my balcony birdfeeders:
Eurasian blue tit
Fierce. Angry (and tiny – where does he keep his rage?). No conception of sharing, even with fellows of its own kind.
Great tit
Will throw hands (wings) if necessary but won't bully other birds. Waits in line for the feeders to free up.
Robin
Extremely polite fellow. Peers up from below to check the coast is clear. Leaps excitedly on every seed.
Wood pigeon
Hugelarge. Will gobble up all available peanuts in 0.003 seconds unless shooed away.
Eurasian nuthatch
Here for the nuts (duh). Examines each one carefully, carrying his preferred one around until he's sure it's the one.
Blackbird
Comes to the balcony to watch, but doesn't visit any of the feeders. Supervisor behaviour.
Great spotted woodpecker
Graceful when hanging off the side of the fence, absolute doofus when gripping on to the (too small, round) feeder for dear life.
Magpie
Both skittish and a bully. Will devour everything if allowed. She knows now to fly past and look through the window to see if I'm here before bothering, because I will shoo her. Fear I am making an enemy.
