Northern Trip
School is out, summer is in!
Finally the semester was over and we got invited by a friend to spend our Holy Week in their province.
I wasn’t sure at first that I will be able to come with them since I was never allowed to go on a vacation during holy week. But miracles do happen, for the first time in my life I was allowed to go on a trip with my friends and it’s somewhere far away.
So where are we going? Well when my friends asked me to come with them, a friend of mine told me that we're going to Baguio. She told me that the province of our friend is near that area. But I wasn't really sure where it is. Though I wasn't sure where it is, still I said yes and went with them.
So here's how our 2017 Holy Week Northern Trip goes. It's a week of adventure in North Luzon. We had more than 10 hours trip from Manila to Tabuk, Kalinga and the adventure starts from there.
Transportation:
Manila-Tabuk
Bus Ticket @ Victory Liner P500 (Student)
Duration: 10hr 30 mins.
(STD is 12-14hrs, so we’re lucky because we arrived earlier than expected. It’s Palm Sunday when we left, it’s April 9, 2017 so we were expecting heavy traffic at that time because it’s the season where a lot of people goes to province.)
ITINERARY:
So what you will see below is our 5 day itinerary during our stay in Kalinga.
Day 1: Kalinga
- Must try food in Tabuk City is Pancit Batil Batuk
(It’s very delicious, it’s something new to me. Well, I love it. I’m a bit choosy when it comes to food, but hey I would love to have one more.)
- 2 Stop overs before going to Lubuagan. First is the tree house and second was the terraces.
- 2-3 hour trip from Tabuk to Lubuagan
- Sight seeing at Lubuagan via motorcycle (My first motorcycle ride)
Day 2: Sagada Trip
- Tinglayan (Sleeping Beauty Mountain)
- Sumaguing Cave
(2-4 hour adventure inside the cave. Depends on how fast your group can finish the track. I twas my first time to enter a cave. Hence, this was my first caving adventure and hopefully the last. But I really had fun, I thought I won't be able to survive it but I did. So if you’re an adventurous type, you should try this one. You can also see a lot of beautiful rock formation inside the cave.)
Day 3: Awichon Village
- Awichon Cultural Village
(Well this place was already featured in Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho. You can try their outfits and have a photo op)
- Bugnay Wine (If you love to drink, you must try this one).
Day 4: Piat
- Maundy Thursday in Our Lady of Piat.
( Try wandering around the area of the church, there's a beautiful place inside it where you can wish and also there's a nearby well where you can get a miraculous water)

- Stop over in a park in Tugegarao.
Day 5: Cagayan Valley
